The position that her argument that the Girl Scouts were not being "Honest" about transgendered youth in their program is kind of... wrong. It advances the notion that if a transgendered person presented themselves as their gender of identity that they are lying to people. This is a horrible notion to spread, and I'd hate to see anyone suggest that a transgendered person must unequally expose the gory details about their genitalia for all the public, lest they are a liar.

I saw this before I saw the boycott video. It pissed me off. I'm glad someone like you made this response, since I'm sure I would not have been able to say this so well. Now we just need to change the boysouts small minded way of thinking by banning gays.
This was a truly magnificent video response to that poor little brain-washed girl. I appreciate you taking the time to make this and post it here and I hope that she watches it and takes it to heart. I also praise the GS-USA for accepting transgender kids and realizing that all children need comfort, not just ones that are born in pink frilly dresses. As a mother, and a mother of a girl scout, I cannot tell you how incredibly PROUD I am that we chose an organization that is so progressive, tolerant, and accepting of ALL girls, despite their sex. Your response is eloquent and to the point. And I agree with you 100 percent. As a former girl scout, I'm proud of the organization for reaching out to all girls. I understand Taylor has a right to her belief, but its not fair of her to attack an organization that has given so much to so many girls just because they're a bit more open minded than some. Safety is their top priority, and whether an individual is biologically male or female, if they are a safety risk, they would be asked to leave.

For example hard factory work.
While most of them would rather choose a restaurant or a supermarket to work in.

And I think in reference to gender she would still be ahead of her time today. I don't have any problem with the message of this video, but the part about Julliette isn't quite accurate. She may have been a champion of women, but Juliette Low was a staunch Conservative and Christian. Also being born/raised in the post-Civil War South she is rumored to have been a racist. Racism being the gateway to other forms of bigitry it is, I doubt she would actually approve of what they did if she were alive today.We get idolize these ppl so much we sometimes forget they were faulted.

The position that her argument that the Girl Scouts were not being "Honest" about transgendered youth in their program is kind of... wrong. It advances the notion that if a transgendered person presented themselves as their gender of identity that they are lying to people. This is a horrible notion to spread, and I'd hate to see anyone suggest that a transgendered person must unequally expose the gory details about their genitalia for all the public, lest they are a liar.

I just want to say Kudos to the young woman who did this video. I think many people's immediate reaction to the girl scout boycott video was hatred, and anger. However justified those reactions may be - they do nothing for equality; after all you can't fight hate with hate. Particularly impressive to see a young woman, strong in her self and her convictions, addressing hatred head on without participating in it.

Transgendered people are people, and should be accepted as the gender they identify with. I can't imagine how weird it would be to wake up one morning and suddenly be a woman, have cramps, be on my period or something and having my penis not be there. I can't imagine the hell that pre-op trans people have to go through and honestly I wouldn't wish it on anybody.

This was a truly magnificent video response to that poor little brain-washed girl. I appreciate you taking the time to make this and post it here and I hope that she watches it and takes it to heart. I also praise the GS-USA for accepting transgender kids and realizing that all children need comfort, not just ones that are born in pink frilly dresses. I sure as heck was not one of those, but I was a girl scout for years and even if I had been in troop with a transgender I would have loved it. :)

The thing with trans people is that they may have the sexual organs of male or female but do no feel or recognize themself as that sex. The fact is that sex and gender are separate. Someone born with XY chromosomes is considered to have the sex of male. Their gender is completely based on if that person wants to be recognized as "male" or "female". Its simple science.

I have XY chromosomes and consider myself a male therefore my gender & sex are "male". Someone may be different. Who are you to judge a person if they have a vagina but consider their self a boy? This "issue" allows trans kids a place where they can associate with kids of the same gender

As a mother, and a mother of a girl scout, I cannot tell you how incredibly PROUD I am that we chose an organization that is so progressive, tolerant, and accepting of ALL girls, despite their sex. The gender binary is so ingrained into people's minds, and anything that seeks to teach young people that the quality of a person is between their ears not their legs, is something I want my daughters to be a part of. Absolutely perfect, more people need to understand that transgender girls and boys ARE the gender they identify with because THERE IS a difference between gender and sex. They just can't help that they have the wrong chromasome pair for their gender. Those experiences and problems she claims only complete girls can identify with each other about? Well the transgender girls have all those problems and MORE that they need even more support for than the 'normal' girls. I love your presentation!

Your response is eloquent and to the point. And I agree with you 100 percent. As a former girl scout, I'm proud of the organization for reaching out to all girls. I understand Taylor has a right to her belief, but its not fair of her to attack an organization that has given so much to so many girls just because they're a bit more open minded than some. Safety is their top priority, and whether an individual is biologically male or female, if they are a safety risk, they would be asked to leave.
