Great job, but I'd agree that slower would be better. It doesn't have to be as slow as the original, but a happy medium.

If the guitar was closer to the mic, it would be better since the reverb would be more on the vox rather than on everything.

Too fast, the guitar is easily out tune, you're letting unnecessary notes ring too long. The vocals are actually alright, though. Seriously, you just killed the mood though. Giving it this 'new tone' you were speaking of just kills it. There are some things about this song that you can't tamper with, to be frank.
