  • You know, there are quite a bit of similarities between NGE and The Wall.

A passive protagonist, with one missing parent, and a manipulative other, forced into a world that causes him to commit soul crushing actions due to a damaged sense of self worth, a love interest that ends up heartbreaking. Also, he withdrawing into his own mind for comfort, shut off from the rest of the world. Plus, Mind Screw, and Nightmare Fuel. I may never at both works the same way again, and that's saying something.

  • WTF!!?5:05

    disgusting!

  • @alexwilligs99 You think THAT'S disgusting? Have you SEEN The End of Evangelion?!

  • @alexwilligs99 Yeah, I like it.

  • @hotelmario510 ok is only a stupid joke,right?

  • @alexwilligs99 You deleted your original comment, so I can't even remember what you said.

  • I was a fan of Pink Floyd before I became a fan of EVA, and while those days have passed and I'm not such an avid fan of Pink Floyd any more, I was stunned with the similarities put forward between Shinji and Pink. They're both fundamentally the same, except Shinji has a rejecting father and Pink has an over-compensating mother. It's an interesting parallel. Great bit of work, this.

  • @hotelmario510 I watched eva and listened to pink floyd during the peak of my depression. I have both an arrogant and alcoholic dad and a overbearing mum. I learned to tolerate my mom now and i'm improving...but its still difficult.

  • @aravindh2002 That's sad. I'm sorry. I hope you find happiness eventually :(

  • @hotelmario510 Hey just found I didn't reply to this comment.Things are much better now as i learned to accept myself completely. There are still moments when i lie on bed and stare at the ceiling...but things have improved a ton. I used to be like Shinji..but now I'm more like Arima from Kare Kano.

  • @aravindh2002 Oh, well that's good.

  • This film changed my life.

  • Wow, I don't usually go for AMVs but this is great.

  • While I do love this video to death, I must say I'm kinda disappointed that this isn't the version of Comfortably Numb that has the freaky screaming during the solo at the end.

  • perfect - themes of loss , destruction , fear , isolation from parents, death of parents by violence, the war machine that says its the savior from this but is its cause. mass media triteness and bombardment till we are numb to human suffering, allegory of grief acceptance, and growing up vs staying infantile, retaining identity under cultural and everyday common pressures , its all in both EVA and The Wall. i thought of the Japan tsumami videos and stupid troll comments when i watched this, sad.

  • Powerful stuff.

  • Beautiful. This fits perfectly. You, sir, are awesome.

  • Wow. Just wow. The song really brings out the intense pain and loneliness that flows through the whole series/film, and the clips bring out the emotion in the song. I would have never thought to combine the two, but obviously you are a genius for doing so.

  • @ReggaeMetalFox I don't think the uploaded is the same as the actual AMV editor...

  • @Nettacki Well, compliments to whoever made it then :P

  • Well, that was disturbing. Nice job.

  • i cant feel it i dislike amvs

  • This fits so very well.

  • Kimochi warui.

  • fuck yes dudei add you

  • words fail to describe the masterpiece which is this video.

  • ...Well, that's okay, I wasn't planning on sleeping at all tonight anyway. Thanks youtube!

  • Usually AMVs are total shit. But this. One of the best songs ever, meets the only good anime series ever. And so well.

  • Bloody fantastic! 5 stars!

  • you...that...amazing.

    Nuff said.

  • I know this vid ain't yours..

  • Holy shit! That was a work of art!

  • That....that....words can't describe man....fucking beautiful....Loved Eva and I love Pink Floyd...fucking awesome

  • Holy Hades, this is an effing masterpiece.

  • I cried the first time I saw this video.

  • @andyjay729 You too?

  • You shouldn't listen to Pink Floyd while you're on drugs, you'll miss a lot...

It was never meant to be listened to in that way to begin with.

  • @Elwood1992 - agreed !!! - strong social commentary mixed with very painful adult themes ... Roger Waters lost his father Fletcher to war . taking drugs to get off on what is supposed to make us think and feel , and take notice of what is going on in our world in fantastic symbolism was the point of the art. Neon Genesis is a good match for "the Wall " , as they have some core matching themes.

  • clarification for bad writing , - meant taking drugs VS thinking and feeling ...

  • @Elwood1992 It seems as though you have never experienced it that way.

  • @2603212 No, I'm just sick an tired of all these people who think they understand Pink Floyd because they listened to it while on drugs. What I'm trying to say is that being high is not a requirement to understand it. To understand this music you simply need to be a breathing, feeling human being who is able to think critically. This music isn't written to give you a mind blowing trip (although it is capable of that), but to get you to think about certain things.

  • @Elwood1992 I can see you are a true Pink Floyd fan. I am glad that you aren't one of those people who just hate drugs for no particular reason.
