@Indieguitarist85 yeah i kind of agree with you... I would love a 7 string, but an 8 string... seems a bit too much. Of course, maybe once I have played an 8 string guitar I will go like: wow, I need an 8 string RIGHT NOW lol

@Indieguitarist85 Then I invite you to play one of my 8-string songs on anything with fewer strings, for instance - as you say, for each his own: if you don't require the extra string, it's just added complication and another string to worry about damping! :) It's never an absolute thing, really - I've seen people doing great stuff with a 10-string, while it's just a burden to me as I don't tend to compose using that range.
