I only disagree with you on the universal health care issue; I'm not so sure it could work. In theory it sounds great. But so does communism. I know somebody who lives in the UK and they said it's murder to try to get in and see a doctor or dentist when something comes up because there's so many people. It's just not the same quality as a privatized system. So I wish for AFFORDABLE health care plans that ALL employers should be obligated to provide their workers.

I agree with the need for an improved health care system. Many people say Gee the canadians got it so well how come we cant do that? The problem is their system does not survive without ours. Many people in Canada "older" that are put on Several Year long waiting lists for surgery, even perscriptions find their way to the states to purchase the things they need. There's no such thing as premium / sub-standard care in Canada! You go to your doctor or the hospital, you show your health card, and it's paid for. That's it. How is that so hard to understand?

I feel so lucky to have universal healthcare. I watched Michael Moore's documentary, 'Sicko' and it brought me to tears to see just a FEW stories of families in the U.S. that had to sacrifice so much of their belongings in order to stay healthy.

It's not VH1, it's the government, I only hire temps because all the paperwork and laws and rules and the fact that I have to be a tax collector for the state and if I make mistake the IRS will come shut me down in 5 minutes.. I agree with the need for an improved health care system. Many people say Gee the canadians got it so well how come we cant do that? The problem is their system does not survive without ours. Many people in Canada "older" that are put on Several Year long waiting lists for surgery, even perscriptions find their way to the states to purchase the things they need. None of the problems in this country ever get fixed, all we do is fight about them and elect people that say they will fix them.

We are in a state of war, we are in an energy crisis with global warming, there are soo many other things we need to consider first before we think about universal health care (which is soo unfortunate but true) our country is in debt up to our eyeballs. and the government as it stands today doesnt want to do anything to change that

A common loop hole that cheap companies these days is hiring part time workers....My professor teaches 10 classes at 4 local community colleges and works for the state. He is consider part-time worker and only makes 16k a year...No benefits even though he works 50-60 hours a week....

Wow it is so amazing how many misconceptions there are out there about Universal Health Care. I hope that the US can have a visionary like Tommy Douglas who is willing to stand up against all that hatred and negativity and press on because they know that what they are doing is right. Universal health care is one major reason I am proud to say I am Canadian - we don't value people based on what is in their bank accounts. People shouldn't need to have money to be healthy.

we help pay for people to have a place to live which is important for elderly, single mothers, and the disabled. we provide healthcare for the elderly, single mothers, the disabled, and for children who's parents should have considered the responsibilities of making a baby and can't provide for them....
universal healthcare in other countries hasn't been a cure all. it has provided less coverage for the entire population and only the very rich can afford premium care.

I live in Europe, and I'm not rich at all, kinda average, but I take full benefits of universal healthcare for FREE, because the state collects money especially for healthcare. Halth insurance is quite a good option in my experience, so there.
