  • I'm willing to bet that all those tents are constructed of non-environmentally friendly material, sewn by child labor in China, on machines powered by coal.

  • I have a friend who used to go to these events, but stopped in disgust. She said the vast majority of the guys there couldn’t care less about the planet, but were just out to have sex with as many naïve middle-class girls as possible after filling their heads with fake tales of eco-warrior campaigning around the globe.

They were effectively all as bad as John Worboys, though not technically as it was all consensual. Not that the Police cared what went on in those camps in any case…

  • FAGGOTS.

  • STOP DEFORESTATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    STOP THE DESTRUCTION!!!!!!!!!!!

    thats all visible sukkaz! co15

  • The notion that non-whites give a fig about saving whales and polar bears, Tibetan and Nepalese peoples' rights, child labour in India, women's circumcision in North Africa, the rainforest, and 100 other "white people's issues" is so manifestly false that only white people can be stupid enough to believe it.

  • What a shame this camp is in the most middle class neighbourhood of south east london. Why isn"t it in New Cross or Peckham ,Bermondsey etc?Because the middle class twats would shit themselves if the locals from all those estates who don"t give a shit about so called climate change turned up and kicked them out.

  • Blackheath has a strong history of revolt all the way back to 1381. Go read a history book

  • History is made by the REAL people not by a bunch of spoilt public school kids in dreadlocks who as I pointed out haven"t got the bottle to go and camp out in working class areas.

  • They did camp in a working class area last year- in Kingsnorth Kent so that blows your argument out of the water.

  • Kingsnorth is a sleepy village. You still haven"t explained why the posh twats were too shit scared to go and make themselves comfortable in the aforementioned areas.

  • revenarney not everyone there was a middle class twat. There were plenty of unemployed and homeless people there as well.

  • When you say unemployed you mean middle class twats on a gap year and I didn"t see any dossers pushing their worldly possessions in a supermarket trolley wither.

  • Well I was there and I am homeless and sell the Big Issue. I also met a couple of other guys who were homeless there too and at the 2007 Heathrow climate camp.

By the way the 1996 Land Is Ours Wandsworth Eco Village was in a working class area in Wandsworth. The first week of that camp was similar to the climate camp with meetings, tents and marquees and evening entertainment. After the first week it became an eco village with wooden structures replacing tents and marquees.

  • Haven"t you got a dog?

  • Why are you so hostile to people who are actually doing something other than typing daft remarks on youtube?

  • Apart from prancing about in a field playing bongos, juggling ,cooking inedible vegan food and discussing where they went on their gap year what exactly are the people in this smug, self satisfied video actually doing?I"ll tell you.Nothing.

  • How about this for a argument what kind of fuel did that truck that brought supplies or propts in for you run on. As in your film about taking over a coal mine the only thing you tree huging jackasses can show is that you still depend on us working people. Grow up and start using that book smart brain and try working with people instead of coasting us money with your little tempertantrums.

  • Oh calm down will ya. The Climate Camp provided a space for people to come together and organise for when the shit hits the fan. Climate chaos is already occurring and causing floods and storms.

This is nothing to do with class and everything to do with coming together and work out how we can going to all work together when the oil runs out.

BTW- the vans and trucks all run on waste veg diesel if that helps you

  • Nothing to do with class but everything to do with race.

  • They should worry more about what the goverments are spraying us all with!

  • What a load of smug middle class, self regarding twats, telling working people how to live. What have they ever achieved?Nothing, zilch, nada, apart from shitting all over(our)common land.

  • Get over yourself and go and actually meet them and open your mind a little

  • My mind is open it,s yours that is shut until human population is controlled we are doomed.Malthus principle was right, just his figures were wrong, and Nuclear power? What have you ever achieved?Nothing, absolutely nothing(except a bit more CO2!) your all deluded fools, politics is about getting things done, not endless puerile police baiting demos, get real.

  • You tell me what you think the Climate Camp will achieve? Just one substantive thing.

  • I was there, and learnt how to live a more sustainable lifestyle, building greywater systems, eating local, orgainic, and vegan food, composting etc etc... A week ago, I didn't have a clue. It's not just about getting a bunch of ''middle class twats'' together in a field to get attention from the media, we run workshops and share knowledge with each other. Substantial enough for you?

  • You still haven"t got a clue .And you admit to being a middle class twat.Cheers!

  • I was there.

It is a beautiful experience with beautiful people.

It's not about what class someone is from upper, middle or lower - every class was there, people from different backgrounds, cultures and generations and we all came together for a good cause!

This is not the first or last time we will all congregate for what we believe in.

    Climate Camp '09!

  • You forgot to mention that they were all white people! Admit it, that's the real reason you enjoyed yourself, you could engage with people of your own ethnicity, discussing things that white people care about, - the environment, human rights, animal rights, without having diversity and all its attendant "treading on eggshells" in your face.

  • wrong! there were people there from all over the world. there was a beautiful sense of diversity. we were all there for one reason not one colour you FOOL.

  • Well, there weren't many non-whites in this piece of film. The only non-white was a man taking photos, probably a journalist. Ostensibly this love-in is about the environment, but one can't help thinking that the feelings of commonality that are on display are as much to do with shared ethnicity as with shared interests. White people celebrating and enjoying stuff that White people like.

  • The common enemy of humanity is man.

In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up

with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming,

water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these

dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through

changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome.

The real enemy then, is humanity itself. "Al Gore's Club of Rome"

  • Enjoy the posts! Thanks to who ever spends the time to get them on youtube!

  • How many trees were cut down and how much earth was bulldozed to make that lawn?

Where did the synthetic plastic backpacks, clothes and tents come from?

    why so much electronic equipment?

did you guys do anything sustainable?

  • that makes sense. but,, its like justifing a lie with words of true..to solve any problem its true that u must go to the roots of the problem. nevertheless, its the times we are living.the fact that i use mi diesel van to protest against diesel, just show that theres a biger problem. if i need to protest, its normal that i use it. when the governments finish oil producion, means that mi eford was helpfull. its a hipocrisy, but i admit it and i try to change mi live, every day.

  • she forgot to mention those of us in the US that go to climate change protests and live more eco friendly lives. that is my only problem with brits and europeans, they always forget ppl from the states.

  • no offense i hope you take hun but i get the same feeling when i watch the us vid's as they only talk about American's. especially the vids i watch Europeans are rarely mentioned even though we are all global now .

  • lllraverlll, I meant no offence, I was simply stating that all other countries in the entire world, percieve the US as the largest user of fossil fuels, natural resources, and give off the majority of co2 given off (which by the way we sadly are) but to completely cut us off is just absurd. I cannot honestly say that I've seen a US vid that excluded any of the european efforts. Then again not many americans make vids on eco friendliness. such a shame.

  • She said Climate Camp actions not general protests which is why USA was not mentioned

  • I have not even heard of a US outreach from "climate camp". Send it across the pond and then see where it goes

  • Sure, but don't take it personally! :)

I'm sure most protesters at such events are aware of the global nature of climate awareness actions like this, including those that happen in the USA. I wouldn't loose sleep if I knew England got missed out during a similar speech at an American camp.

  • may be its the usa that forgot that theres the rest of the world... but then, theres only one world...
