YOu wrote you cant hack with telnet.. Its has found security wholes in servers.. people have in some cases used fake data into say a pass field for a ftp server through MSdos:telnet.. like a string of 257 or more digits... it crashed the buffer on a server crashing to the point of granting access to the contents... Bottom line using the telnet allows you to poke around at the full option of send and try what ever command.. if you a find outdate server they almost always have published exploits!
