I totally love this song... I never listen to donny's music and i've heard this song vaguely in my sisters song and then I went to see a fireside in utrecht given by Donny Osmond himself in person and he sang this song and I shared a great moment with someone i really care about a lot... at the moment i just wish i could share this song with him through facebook or whatever without making it harder for him... i've listened to it for 5 times now and i can't stop crying...

@davebrown51 his son was on his mission for 6 months when he texted donny he was homesick and wanted to come home donny was doing vocals in studio at that moment... they texted back and forth for 15 minutes till his son texted him he was okay now and he was able to finish his mission now.. when donny texted to how why the sudden change, and his son answered with i just needed to know you were there for me whenever i need you too...

that's interesting...well he told a story about his son who was on a Mission and needed to get a hold of him, and his son said he just needed to know that his Dad was always there no matter what, then Donny related that situation to how our Savior Jesus Christ is always there for us, no matter what and he said this is how he ended up writing this song and what it is about.
