Another thing is that they sometimes self-medicate with alcohol and drugs to stop the voices,etc. it temporarily numbs them. I believe she suffered from schizophrenia (correct me if I'm wrong). With schizophrenia, ppl have difficulty determining reality from non-reality (hallucinations, delusions). I think that some cases are far worse than others.

I think Maia decompensated more after losing her mother..then the downward spiral began!. I'll pray 4 her recovery. I'll pray 4 those guys too. :-(

I read that Maia Campbell suffers from mental illness. Mental illness is like a revolving door. One thing with mental illness is that sometimes they don't want to take medications due to some side effects like feeling like a zombie, feeling weak & lethargic,etc. That's what alot say is why they stop. What they don't understand is when they take medications, even if they feel better, they still have to take them. Many don't have that insight.

If she is diagnose with some type of mental illness it is her responsibility to take her medication or check herself into some type patient care facility. No matter your status, i know it has to be heartbreaking and really tough to fall victim to a drug like that. I am blessed that i have never been pushed to a point where i would have to use any drug, but people come from really different situations with all kinds of circumstances.
