This song came out when i was in high school,back then i was a hardcore thrash/speedmetal fan, but when i heard "slave to the grind" i thought it was a really good hard rock/metal record and this is from a guy who was an a die-hard slayer fan.

Skid Row got lumped in with hair metal bands because of the ballads they wrote, and because Sebastian Bach was prettier than most chicks, so girls loved them. But, they had a hell of a lot of heavy hitting songs, and this one was straight up metal.

@metallica4413 I think they were a heavy metal band after all. Skid Row always had better lyrics and heavier melodies than most Hair Metal bands. While people were talking about parting and having fun, those guys had songs about violence and life itself.
