Ron Paul is a man who voted against Martin Luther King Day as a holiday, who opposes almost every aspect of King’s public policy agenda, and the crowning achievements of the movement he helped lead, why are we trying to connect the two gentlemen?
@freefalable Martin Luther King believed in individual responsibility and liberty, too, yet he saw the federal government as playing an essential role in that. Oh, the irony is rich here. The policies that Ron Paul stands for -- minimal federal government responsibility, greater "states rights" -- contradict what was accomplished in the Civil Rights movement. Because in the end it was only the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT that was able to FORCE the Southern states to treat black people equally. If it had been left to the states -- which is what Mississippi and the other racist states had demanded -- black people would never have been allowed their rights.
@tnilfo Any small-government advocate would agree that when civil liberties are violated in such a blatant way -- segregating and denying certain races in public institutions -- it is indeed the federal governments responsibility to protect those rights. The only thing ironic is how a post that you meant to contain some hint of intellect has actually proved itself to be the dumbest statement i have found on this page thus far. Eat shit and die.
Where do i even begin with this crap? Why is it that true champions of freedom like Ron Paul and Glenn Beck fell the need to fawn all over a pro-Communist like King? Of course King wanted us out of Vietnam. He made a speech praising Communist dicatator Ho Chi Minh and wanted Vietnam conquered by his Communist friends. I voted for Paul in 1988 and 2008. I love him, but sometimes he has his head up his ass on foreign policy. This video tries to make the War on Terror seem un-libertarian.
@joshaf26 Thats not true at all. Both Paul and King preach about the preservation of individual civil liberties and a limited government for the people. We live in a society now that perpetuates a group mentality and that in turn perpetuates racism, sexism and all the other "isms" that apply. Both Dr.King and Dr.Paul are about treating each and every person as an individual therefore eliminating the group mentality that keeps us from moving forward as a species.
Dr.Paul is not against gay marriage. His stance is that the federal government has no bussiness regulating it. It should be up to the individual states to decide the legality of it. And the same is true about his stance on Abortion, Drugs, Guns etc etc. He just doesnt feel that the Constituion gives the Federal Government any authority over idividual matters and that each state should decide the legality of its people, NOT the Federal Government.
@GratefulSW8 I do think he is anti abortion, i remember a vid saying that the constitution will not allow abortion because the unborn child is human and therefore guareented the right to life. I' m pretty sure that was the first Ron Paul vid i stumbled upon; sadly before that I no exposure to him or his message accept through that stupid movie Bruno.
@frellthat lol UM, Nope. you proved nothing by adding a start date and the name of the newsletter. no credibility, show me the documents and the racist remarks and Ron Paul's signature on it. you fail, noob.
You should be resourceful enough to get your facts straight. You said it was not his newsletter and he had no sanction from it. That's wrong. The Ron Paul Survival Report was created by Ron Paul, specifically as a forum for his viewpoints. It was his personal newsletter.
None of the articles were ever signed by anyone other than Ron Paul.
Well, for one thing, I don't see any videos comparing John McCain to MLK.
I mention it on this video because I think it is a historical injustice and shows a lack of respect for the real MLK, to equate him with a man whose newsletter spewed racist filth for more than 10 years straight.
one article referred to African-American rioters as "barbarians" and suggested that the Los Angeles riots of 1992 only stopped when it came time for "blacks to pick up their welfare checks". Other issues gave tactical advice to local militia groups and advanced various conspiracy theories.[69]
bullshit, we know Ron Paul is the only candidate is one of the few candidates who aren't racist.
In fact, Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate(out of the republicans and democrats) who will end this idiotic drug war, which prosecutes minorities. Did you know that 67% of those victim to the drug war were African-Americans?
This appears to be the only defense Ronbots have against people who point out Paul's racism - to say that his libertarian stance in drugs means he isn't a racist. Lol.
@Hackiesacker007 lol stopping the war on drugs does not vindicate/excuse him of his racism-- it simply shows his libertarian ideology in effect. And the fact our government is racist does not mean Ron Paul isn't racist since hes technically apart of our government, "idiot".
"constantly living eveyday knowing you could be assasinated"
Actually, you'd have to know you WERE going to be assassinated. There is a pretty clear pattern that a defective person will eventually enforce the status quo with violence.
Lol it never gets old, always put a smile on my face. What a great man, I mean he didn't have to do what he did can you imagine constantly living eveyday knowing you could be assasinated,
Blacks comprise 13 percent of the national population, but 30 percent of people arrested, 41 percent of people in jail, and 49 percent of those in prison.
One in three black men between the ages of 20 and 29 was either in jail or prison, or on parole or probation in 1995.
the sad thing is that if king was still alive he would puke at the sight of the of the currant black or African American community and slap it leader for they have failed to bring his vision in to light and keep to further the racial divide in this country so they could keep some shred of power in the community
@nksusolder1, What you say is very much True, I say this everyday. These freedom fighters fought for the freedom to work (young Africans Americans don't want to work) for the freedom to get educaticated (young Africans Americans don't want to go school)..everybody wants to be a rapper or basketplayer. Nothing is wrong with that, but just get an education and respect yourself.
nksusolder1 - No, he would puke at the failure of this nations MANY white leaders and one black leader to provide democracy to minority communities. Right now they are forced to compete in the private sector which is monopolized by the white male CEO hierarchy. Of course blacks are going to "fail," they have no power, even with a black president. Democracy is the only thing that can give them power over their own communities, and then they can and will succeed.
I did not say the nation i said the black leader like Mr. Sharpton and Mr. Jackson, next the achievements of man both in victory and in defeat are not determined on the color of one's skin white, black or blue it does not matter all that matters in this life is how much you are willing to sacrifice to achieve your dreams, and i hope all people understand that all true power rest with the people
and another thing if you want the us government to give anything to you; you will have to surrender your some of your freedom that is the proses to socialism and to federal enslavement by the goverment
"I did not say the nation i said the black leader like Mr. Sharpton and Mr. Jackson"
I know you didn't say nation. I never said you did. But you didn't say "black leader like Sharpton or Jackson" either...
"the sad thing is that if king was still alive he would puke at the sight of the of the currant black or African American community"
The power rests with the people in democracy, in capitalism the power rest with the hierarchy. In America that hierarchy just so happens to be white males.
now to deal with the half breads like you listen OK i hate people like you who think they are more superior to a person just on the bassist of the color of there skin by demonizing them can only prove your inferiority to them
Ron Paul has clearly stated his position on race equality. It amazes me that people seem to think that he would act to the contrary. Just look at his 30 year voting record. He scores an A+ on civil liberties.
"just look at his 30 year voting record. He scores an A+ on civil liberties." -Yoda Maybe to the KKK or a Neo-Nazi he scores an A+. Paul's record: -For DOMA -For DADT -Voted for We The People Act -Voted to ban gay adoptions -For repealing the Civil Rights Act (which ended fascist segregation, and gave blacks equal voting rights) -Voted against the Rosa Parks medal of honor Voted against MLK holiday. -authored newsletters calling blacks "animals" and called for gays to be quarantined.
But the articles that came to light were from the late 80's, not 1996. And they were written by a writer from his newsletter that Ron Paul never met. There were dozens of writers for that newsletter.
VenemousMonkey - Wow. You're an epic failure. As I said, Ron Paul already admitted to writing the bigoted newsletters in 1996. If you have proof he stopped writing them please provide it. Here is where Paul and his staff admit he wrote these repulsive articles.
Fascism cannot exist without massive central government control. Free market competition among the 50 states would utterly undermine the fascist model. The fascist corrupt alliance between corporations and the federal government would finally end. Racism would finally be bid out of existence with a truly free market for labor resources.
And capitalists historically have been for strong central governments to protect illegitimate and exploitative property. There are plenty of naive capitalists like Paul that thinks capitalism can work without leading to fascism, but historically that's not true. Capitalism will always lead to debt and wage slavery. RP isn't even completely anti-central government. His racists views have pushed him to support a border wall and deportation of Mexicans.
Paul is also staunchly pro-constitution, which is a FEDERAL document which rules over ALL! Paul isn't nearly as anti-central government as you think. Paul even said he thought gays should be quarantined in his newsletters. Is that fascist enough for you?
he didn't write the news letters and ron paul admits that the constitution is flawed. he is a minarchist. he just believes that the constitution should be at least abided by, which no one does.
"people who worked for his newsletter said that he had nothing to do with it."
What "people?" Paul only had four employees during the timeframe the newsletters were written, Paul's family and Lew Rockwell. What's your source?
You're also ignoring that Paul defended the comments he made in his newsletters in 1996. He said his comment that blacks are "fleet-footed" after they steal women's purses and are "95% or entirely criminal" were accurate statements.
If you do not believe that Ron Paul message is the same then please research his voting record. Don't believe what TV tells you, practice what MLK said and be yourself!
Ron Paul is not a hypocrite for admiring Martin Luther King! Martin Luther King leaned pretty heavily towards socialism, that is true. But Ron Paul is a great man because he accepts and values contributions towards liberty from all people. Would they have agreed on economic issues? Absolutely - but MLK's greatest legacy is in the Civil Rights Movement, not some socialist economic movement. Dr. King, regardless of his other economic beliefs, was a true friend of liberty - just like Ron Paul!
That's ridiculous. He would have voted on another principal of that bill and to say he didn't vote in the holiday because he is not an MLK admirer or something is false. You shouldn't try and make statements for someone like Ron Paul or imply things about him to other people.
He isn't an MLK admirer? This is news! I didn't know Ron Paul was a liar as well as a bigot. If you search "Ron Paul accused of racism by Wolf Blitzer," Ron Paul states MLK is one if his communist heroes!
what is so important about it? why do we need a whole month to commemorate black history. Why when i go to school we had a whole month of black history teachings but never anything about irish history?
ron paul is more like martin luther king then barack obama. not because. barack is the same as martin by their skin tone, but ron paul has the characteristics of of martin luther king. he wants the troops to come home, not to fund the money in iran "cough obama"
Ron Paul like MLK? That is the biggest fallacy I've ever read. If it were up to Ron Paul, the Constitution would revert back to the pre-14th Amendment days, thus sending African Americans back into the unequal abyss.
for somebody you uses big words such as "fallacy" you're not very smart. Ron paul and Martin Luther king are about Liberity. Such as ending the wars, they preach about equal rights and freedom. Also I'm pretty sure he wouldn't do that. I don't know why all you African American youtubers think's "he's racist" he's all about NON racism. God damn.
I am not an African American. I am also not the smartest man in the world. But I do know Constitutional Law from my law school days which weren't very long ago. And what I also know is that Ron Paul's views on the Constitution are regressive. This country needs progressive policies, and that is why we elected the best man for the job - Barack Obama.
Ron Paul is a racist prick: "If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be." 1992
More newsletter stuff that he never wrote. Ron Paul didn't ever write those words, someone else did. He never even read the newsletter they were in! If you look at his voting record, he's always helped minorities, and he has no intention of taking away civil liberties, because he doesn't see people as groups (white, black, hispanic), but as individuals who are all entitled to the same rights.
The problem is, is if we keep progressing in this direction, we lose site of the things we hold dear.
Ron Paul.He has influenced and opened hearts and minds of many people around the world, just like me.He is the only candidate that can lead U.S. through these times of awful lies,half-truths and censorship.Americans YOU must give him the support and be brave and openminded no one else is going to do that for you even if thousands of us wants to.Time will come when the balloon of lies will suddenly pop and if you won´t do something before that, whole world will have it much more harder.
These men: John: Martin: Robert: Malcolm: Ghandi: Marlyn: And I'm sure there's some I have not found yet, Will say they were all killed because WE AS AMERICANS FAILED TO KEEP THEM ALIVE, They knew, Somebody knew, These men needed us, and the future will to.
Save America Speak up to the Youth, Educate them from the top down, So they will understand from the bottom up.We need Unity between all of us Black and White to remain as a whole. We will all fall, Act Now or die later. Who country is this

Did you actually read the book by Abernathy or did you cut and past your quotes from a website? If you did read the book were there any citations that you could research for yourself or was the book hearsay? Did you research his sources for yourself or did you just take them for gospel?

The media have always carefully portrayed King as a good Christian family man — the epitome of a man of God.
Yet, King had dozens of liaisons with prostitutes, White and Black, USED CHURCH MONEY to pay them and commonly beat them — all documented by the FBI and admitted by King associates.
SEE
Abernathy, R. (1989). And the Walls came tumbling Down. New York: Harper & Row
Only recently has it been revealed that Martin Luther King PLAGIARIZED large sections of his DOCTORAL THESIS.
Boston University formed a committee to
determine the extent of KING'S PLAGIARISM. It determined that 45 percent of the first part and 21 percent of the second part were taken from other authors.
SEE:

Somebody been spending too much time on Stormfront. You let other people think for you? That book by Abernathy was nothing more than a tabloid expose written by an ex friend of King. No credible proof or sources. On the other hand Abernathy was a failed civil rights leader who remained in the shadow of King and after King's assassination failed at leading the movement. Undoubtedly he resented King... but regardless MLK is loved because of the message he stood for, he was but a man not a god.
Freedom of religion is the only cause why America became populated. Then religious fantasies not grounded in a sound biblical thinking gave them ideas that taking slaves was in line whith what the bible teaches. Them that seeked freedom from opression became self the opressor. America is founded on the principle of every mans right to be free, and slavery therfor had to be done away with. Ron paul's message is also freedom, individual freedom, and national id and what that implies must also go.
Yea, teerorist did exist before Iraq. It's just not the people you think the terrorist are. Seperate yourself from the mainstream media, and dig further independently.
whether terrorists existed before iraq or not is a stupid question, but one thing is for sure: us going into iraq has been the greatest for terrorist recruitment. LET'S GET THE F*** OUT OF IRAQ!
Spoken like a true surrender-monkey. Either you must not be following the news lately, or you would be rather distraught over a growing alliance with Maliki and the US. If this solidifies, it may prove war IS a solution. Oh yes, the troops would eventually be brought home...VICTORIOUS! Haha!

Can I just mention something:
Ron Paul is a extreme right-wing libertarian who supports complete deregulation.
Martin Luther King was a radical leftist who supported regulation and democratic socialism.
What a disgrace to King.
"... because it really means that we are saying that something is wrong with capitalism. There must be a better distribution of wealth and maybe America must move toward a democratic socialism."
-Martin Luther King Jr. Frogmore, South Carolina, November 14, 1966.
I believe the idea behind this video and Ron's comments are that we no longer have leaders that encourage civil disobedience. He is not aligning himself with King's or anyone elses personal philosophy on other issues. No one anymore stands up for what they believe. Government is only one thing.. force... nothing more... nothing less. King and others promoted power not force. Gov. as force is the problem not capitalism. Big difference... Most in America are asleep... At least your a thinker!
The similarities displayed in the video are clear & not overdone, (as your comment is). Dr King & Dr. Paul both call for a colorblind society under the law & an end to Imperialism. That Dr King thought the same forces & methods that are the greatest source of problems could be used to solve these same problems; THAT was HIS great mistake. Also, as "sirluke" points out, both men emulate Gandhi.
To be against supporting the GOVERNMENT of Israel is categorically NOT anti-semitism + Dr Paul wants to end ALL foreign aid. Numbers:
2. Egypt 1.84 Billion
3. Afghanistan 0.98 Billion
4. Pakistan 0.70 Billion
6. Sudan .50 Billion
7. Jordan .48 Billion
Real & potential enemies = $4.5 Billion. Of course, Israel is no. 1 at $2.58 Billion, but to cut it ALL that's a net $2 Billion to Israel. Hardly anti-Israel & very PRO-humanity as the U.S. would stop funding both sides of wars.
If you were alive during the time of his revolution, you would have hated him. He was a maverick, and you have demonstrated that you hate mavericks. The people you support now were the ones calling for his deportation in the 60s.
mattTaylor's real name is James Earl Ray. mattTaylor hates Martin Luther King, calling for his deportation. mattTaylor hates mavericks. mattTaylor needs to shut the fuck up. President Bush is our greatest President since the late great President Ronald Reagan. Ralph Nader
what an incredible insult to the late great Reverent Martin Luther King, to compare him to ron paul. one may as well compare President Abraham Lincoln to Jerry springer. President Bush is our greatest President since the late great President Reagan. Ralph Nader
somehow, it is not surprising that the same person who equates President Lincoln with Jerry Springer, is the same moral midget who supports a shitler-loving antisemite like the loser ron paul. President Bush is our greatest President since the late great President Ronald Reagan. Ralph Nader

Both Dr.King and Dr.Paul are about treating each and every person as an individual therefore eliminating the group mentality that keeps us from moving forward as a species.
GratefulSW8 1 year ago
@GratefulSW8 Dr. King wanted federal government intervention to ensure that local governments couldn't discriminate against black people.
And if Ron Paul really cared about treating people fairly as individuals, why is he opposed to gay marriage?
joshaf26 1 year ago
@joshaf26
GratefulSW8 1 year ago
@GratefulSW8 I do think he is anti abortion, i remember a vid saying that the constitution will not allow abortion because the unborn child is human and therefore guareented the right to life. I' m pretty sure that was the first Ron Paul vid i stumbled upon; sadly before that I no exposure to him or his message accept through that stupid movie Bruno.

You should be resourceful enough to get your facts straight. You said it was not his newsletter and he had no sanction from it. That's wrong. The Ron Paul Survival Report was created by Ron Paul, specifically as a forum for his viewpoints. It was his personal newsletter.
None of the articles were ever signed by anyone other than Ron Paul.

bullshit, we know Ron Paul is the only candidate is one of the few candidates who aren't racist.
In fact, Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate(out of the republicans and democrats) who will end this idiotic drug war, which prosecutes minorities. Did you know that 67% of those victim to the drug war were African-Americans?
Who's the racist? Our government or Ron Paul?
Yeah, that's right...shut your mouth idiot.

@Hackiesacker007 lol stopping the war on drugs does not vindicate/excuse him of his racism-- it simply shows his libertarian ideology in effect. And the fact our government is racist does not mean Ron Paul isn't racist since hes technically apart of our government, "idiot".

nksusolder1 - No, he would puke at the failure of this nations MANY white leaders and one black leader to provide democracy to minority communities.

@Vote3rdParty He determined that civil rights was left up to the states. That was his viewpoint.
VenemousMonkey 2 years ago
So fascism should be left to the states? Thanks for exposing the extremism of your ideology.
TheAntiAuthoritarian 2 years ago
Fascism cannot exist without massive central government control. Free market competition among the 50 states would utterly undermine the fascist model. The fascist corrupt alliance between corporations and the federal government would finally end. Racism would finally be bid out of existence with a truly free market for labor resources.
Yodaismycopilot 2 years ago
And capitalists historically have been for strong central governments to protect illegitimate and exploitative property. There are plenty of naive capitalists like Paul that thinks capitalism can work without leading to fascism, but historically that's not true. Capitalism will always lead to debt and wage slavery. RP isn't even completely anti-central government. His racists views have pushed him to support a border wall and deportation of Mexicans.
TheAntiAuthoritarian 2 years ago
Paul is also staunchly pro-constitution, which is a FEDERAL document which rules over ALL! Paul isn't nearly as anti-central government as you think. Paul even said he thought gays should be quarantined in his newsletters. Is that fascist enough for you?

Ron Paul is not a hypocrite for admiring Martin Luther King! Martin Luther King leaned pretty heavily towards socialism, that is true. But Ron Paul is a great man because he accepts and values contributions towards liberty from all people. Would they have agreed on economic issues? Absolutely - but MLK's greatest legacy is in the Civil Rights Movement, not some socialist economic movement. Dr. King, regardless of his other economic beliefs, was a true friend of liberty - just like Ron Paul!

for somebody you uses big words such as "fallacy" you're not very smart. Ron paul and Martin Luther king are about Liberity. Such as ending the wars, they preach about equal rights and freedom.

The media have always carefully portrayed King as a good Christian family man — the epitome of a man of God.
Yet, King had dozens of liaisons with prostitutes, White and Black, USED CHURCH MONEY to pay them and commonly beat them — all documented by the FBI and admitted by King associates.

What a disgrace to King.
