this is m,ark dents bike, it does in fact have the claimed hp. the blopke build dyno's for a living and also builds pipes/tunes rg500's. the quickest rg500 in the uk. randy norian has the quickest bike in the us. his rg500 has 4x tz barrels!!

It had a mild tune back then and all i can say is they look gay in todays bikes in standard trim but you soon forget the looks when your hands are sliding down the tank and begging your mate to come off the power band!!

Just because he revs it out doesn't mean he's got the throttle tapped... I've owned a RGV500, RGV400, and NS400 (among many others), and all of these bikes will pick the front end up on throttle in third gear. Most people are scared to death to pin the gas on a two-smoke.

@NLbertNL Personally, I've owned 5 gsx11s - 2 stock and 3 in various states of tune. In the wet, or on a gravel road, maybe one of them could keep in touch with that RGV, but only with a better rider than me on it.

The trouble with a bike like that RGV is that to really use it, takes a rider of real skill and real courage. Even the quickest 4st sports bikes are far more forgiving.

if it's stock there aint no way it's got 145 bhp , these things were bout 100 bhp stock. If its got 145 then you would have to have pipes , carbs, porting , port heights degreed etc

The rider red lines the tac before he shifts to second gear, 0.32 seconds in, resulting in a very modest power wheelie. If I were to do this on my RZ 500, I would find myself very suddenly laying FLAT on my back, looking up at the sky! My bike tests consistantly at 109hp at the rear wheel.

Hummmm, perhaps he the rider shifts it short??

Or perhaps 145 hp is a bullshit claim!

@Ismell2stroke You might have a different gear ratio than this RGV. RZ500 are underpowed compared to rgv500. But a third generation RD500 can make 130HP to the rear wheel. its the torque that makes all the difference. Change your gear ratio your top speed will be well higher than a 4 stroke 600 with 130HP because a two stroke has more torque to pull the gear ratio.

in first gear this may be at 130 km/h.... a first gear wheelie is a demostration of power, it doesn't wheelie in other gears because this bike is made for this power, and in other gears it is always in the powerband. It wheeles only when the valve opens!

This is what I dreamed of doing to my RG500 23 years ago. I only went as far as 30mm bored carbs, having the cranks counterweighted and custom made chambers. Never dynoed but estimated at about 115 hp. Normal redline 9,500 and I was amazed that it then made good, fast seemless power all the way to 11,500
