Just to update some of you in regards to your comments. The North Korean Military is regularly low on food and materials. There is no such thing as a the "happy" North Korean military. I would point out, however, that the bigger issue is the lack of women in North Korea. The young men in the army are resorting to institutional homosexuality supported (to an unknown degree) by the military. In fact, as far as can be understood the military seems to be using this as a control on the army.

As long as you keep to executing your own people, you can go on nearly indefinately. Given how closed the DPRK is, it's likely to be the dictatorship that lasts the longest, provided that they don't do something foolish like the nazis or run out of funds to feed their military. As long as the military is happy, regime will stand.
