I personally felt like Brian was indeed "colorblind," as in - not being raised to care about the divisions; being with Kenya just made him pay more attention to that type of mindset. I got what you were going for, though. The actual song "Colorblind" always made me think of someone who was so guarded they were melancholic and barren, so I thought that's what you were going for with Kenya here. I enjoyed it very much!

It's tough for black people. No matter what anyone says, black people are free. Free to live as they want. However, they are under pressure to build up the black family/community/nation. Thus, they are pressured to marry other black people.

And seeing this movie so many times, I've many favorite parts, but one of my top ten in this whole movie is how Simon looks just the moment before he drops the bags. It's like, whenever Kenya is sony seeing things from a "black and white perspective, she's in black and white." When she's almost there..it's more of a watered down color. When she's totally engaged with Brian, it's totally color.

Why is the theme about being "colorblind?" If there are interracial relationships, I should hope that one of the things that attracts those involved is some aspect of physical appearance. That includes skintone/ethnic background, big time. Please do NOT be colorblind, for if you are, then you aren't seeing all of your partner--and therefore how can you love them? My skin is beautiful and my partner should not only be able to see it, but cherish it. Anything less is just unconcious racism.

I love this movie...not only because Sanaa and Simon are talented and beautiful people, but I love the message of the movie. My fiance's family, some of them are leery of us getting married because I am Mexican. He is white. But he loves me and I love him, and that is all that matters. :)

What a fabulous video using the Counting Crows "Colorblind" as back drop. SN was just a delightfully sexy and wonderful film that I have watched over and over again. My father who is a doctor has always reminded me that in the operating room once you remove the skin we are all the same with a unique genetic makeup. It's like, whenever Kenya is sony seeing things from a "black and white perspective, she's in black and white." When she's almost there..it's more of a watered down color. When she's totally engaged with Brian, it's totally color.

i saw a bit of this movie when i was pertty young. it seemed so strange to me why people seemed to be making a big deal about it. now, that i'm a bit older, and i had completely forgotten i had seen it, watching this video made me cry. and didnt soemone else make the song colorblind? are counting crows the original?

So did I. I remember back when Simon Baker was on 'The Guardian' how I used to look at him and think, "this guy could be a great cast in an interracial love story of some kind. I could see him with a black chick on screen." I don't know why, there was just something about him. And then, voila! here comes 'Something New.' And I was right. He and Sanaa rocked!

Why is the theme about being "colorblind?" If there are interracial relationships, I should hope that one of the things that attracts those involved is some aspect of physical appearance. That includes skintone/ethnic background, big time. Please do NOT be colorblind, for if you are, then you aren't seeing all of your partner--and therefore how can you love them? My skin is beautiful and my partner should not only be able to see it, but cherish it. Anything less is just unconcious racism.

No, but the term is and has been a common refrain about how interracial relationships should go: that in order to be in one, physical attributes or backgrounds must be downplayed in fear of merely having an empty fetish for another race. That's silly. The couple is just supposed to go their time together without seeing what each other looks like--and loving it? Doesn't make sense. Same race couples aren't put to this kind of standard, are they?

I love this movie...not only because Sanaa and Simon are talented and beautiful people, but I love the message of the movie. My fiance's family, some of them are leery of us getting married because I am Mexican. He is white. But he loves me and I love him, and that is all that matters. :)

What a fabulous video using the Counting Crows "Colorblind" as back drop. SN was just a delightfully sexy and wonderful film that I have watched over and over again. The chem betw SL/SB was off the chain hott and sexy! SB is fine as hell and SN is just gorgeous and put together = smokin' hot! This movie brought up some truths and I still don't see why people have to be all up in other peoples grill about IR dating. Hell, we all bleed the color red, right?! Beautiful video and song..

Love is colorblind and thats what really matters: love NOT color. I'm a black woman in love with a white man, and this movie totally made me smile. I'd rather be in love with the sweetest, most genuine, passionate, loveing and funniest man I've ever known and have alot in common with that happens to be white. I don't want to just keep dating inside my race and ending up going through man after man for years. Sometimes love is waiting outside your race bubble.
