Winters was at Headingley plying his trade at his parents far in Grassington at the time Carling came onto the scene prior to both joining Quins!
NO THEY DAMN WELL DON'T! He also played and was well respected by the Boks having played provincial stuff with the then Transvaal and also Hawkes Bay in NZ as a youngster. He was even presented with "Man of the Seies" by the Blacks coach Bryce Rope when the Lions were whitewashed in '83. A magnificent and hard as nails player!
