I miss Chuck on Wheel - his play by play of the spinning wheel and he was awesome with the contestants. I wish the current brass would let him host one more episode of WoF in his lifetime. Thanks for letting me relive my youth, prof!
Mike, do you happen to know when Barbara's episodes aired, or at least a timeframe? I'm putting together a timeline of the daytime "Wheel", but I'm having trouble placing these episodes with confidence.
There are several websites that list network schedules for both daytime and nighttime, so anything you know or is present in the shows (sound or no sound for Bankrupt, commercials, news bulletins, copyright date and voiceovers during the credits, etc.) would be helpful.
This is Barbara - No they did not have to stop tape - Chuck just didn't hear the final spin bell, but caught himself in time and then he gave a final spin which ultimately gave me the "BIG" car as he called it. I was driving an old '64 Chevy pick up at the time and went there expressly to win a much needed car which I sold a few months later to use as a down payment. on a house in Venice. I took a certificate to a dealer and picked out a maroon Camaro - beautiful and fast....
Did they have to stop tape on this when the "time running out" chimes played? It sounds like Chuck let your wife solve the puzzle without realizing that he was going to need to spin the wheel and let her win some more money.
My hint on this is that there was no background noise when Chuck finally did spin. Other than your wife hoping for him to hit $1500 again, of course.
She came back the second day and lost and I am going to add a piece of that one day. I worked as an AV tech during the time of the airing so I copied it off the air using 3/4", later to a 2 hour VHS, so it has held up well. Many of my tapes from that era do not play anymore.
But thank you very much for posting this old clip. It's always fun to see Wheel back when it was Chuck, Susan, and "Big Wheels" instead of today's Pat/Vanna/"???"/brought to you today by Hot Pockets.
do you have the whole episode?

So even in 1978 they were doing superfluous Final Spins.

For the record, you might want to fix the description - it's "Woolery", not "Wollery" =P

Cash is nice, but it was so much more fun to watch them pick prizes.

I see. Well, I would not suggest taking down the original upload, since it contains footage this one doesn't, and vice versa.

I have left up both versions

...Wow. This is pretty much Studio Master quality.
Oh, and just a curious question -- how long did your wife last on the show (assuming she came back on the next show)?

Will you ever shut up with this "Could you post the entire episode?" Can't you ever be happy with what shows are there?

Wow, look at that picture quality! I wonder how you were able to get your hands on an improved version!
