  • Someone needs a tripod!

  • grove st

  • is this worchester maryland?

  • worcester mass

  • I like the old ladder 1 better. I will take a tiller over that beast anyday of the week.

  • They have Ladder 6s truck now...its the smeal 2006 rearmount and L-6 got this

  • depends on the driver and the officer

  • whats a q

  • Look on the drivers side bumper of the truck. That's a Q Siren. It's the standard fire truck siren that alot of people think (including me) every firetruck should have. Do a Youtube Search on Federal Q and you can hear it.

  • WHAT HE WAS USING THE ELECTRIONC SIREN AND HE HAD A Q. thats rare and interesting.

  • At 21's, "my station". They have a Q and NEVER use it. I haven't herd it for like 3 yrs now.

  • maybe he didnt want to.... or maybe they just didnt use it in courtesy for the filmer.

  • Most likely local noise ordinance like in New York City. The Q is just too loud for the elderly population.

  • Not a noise ordinance. It is just the officer's preference. Some guys just flick the switch and leave it on. Some say they cant hear the radio with the Q blasting. Others wail on the Q the whole time...it just depends on who is in the front seat. Between 1975 abd 1999 the rigs came in with electronic sirens only. During that period the only Qs were the ones installed by the guys. All of the apparatus since 99 have Qs and electronics, except Engine 5 which came in with ONLY a Q :)

  • Interesting. Thanks. If it was me in the officer's seat you would only hear the Q. PURE Q.

  • haha yup same here! I grew up about 2 blocks or so from E11 and L6....both were assigned yellow 1974 Maxim F models...a pumper and a tiller. Both had nose mounted Qs and used them well! E8 was not far either and the had a 1971 or so Maxim S with a federal doubletone mechanical siren. It was like music when a box was struck!!

  • Well, at least in Philadelphia you can still enjoy Q music. Most front line rigs have real Q's on them BY THEMSELVES; the only exceptions being a few ALF pumps and tillers with electronic Q's, also by themselves. If you're in Philly and you hear what sounds like an ambulance or police cruiser, chances are it indeed is.

  • NEWS FLASH: Sirens are loud? Our studies show they are so loud that people pull over!
