Sonny Garrish is one of the best stell guitar player in the world. Just listen how made the teardop sounds on this song. Bill has always got reat musicians in his band.
thanks for the upload. Bill sometimes performs this song on the Opry. In your video description there's a minor error. Bill never hosted "You Can Be a Star". That talent show was hosted by Jim Ed Brown. I think Bill may have been a producer of that show but he wasn't the host.
An utterly stupendous single that was also covered beautifully by Vic Dana. This was a hit for Bill in 1966. The vocal harmonies are provided by the late, great Jimmy Gateley, who sadly passed away in the 1980s. One of country music's all time masterpieces.
This is the first time that I have seen Jimmy Gately, Bill Anderson's right hand man and leader of his Po' Boys (Now the Po' Folks), play the bass guitar. In the clips that I have seen of him, he usually plays guitar or fiddle.
Rest In Peace Jimmy Gately, you left us all too soon.
What program is this from? That looks like Doodles Weaver with the clipboard off stage. There is also a clip of Johnny Cash from what looks to be the same program but I am not sure.
This is from the 1967 movie "Road to Nashville". Johnny Cash sang two songs in it. It also featured Waylon Jennings, Porter Wagoner, Marty Robbins among others I can't remember. I think the plot was Doodles Weaver trying to put together a Country show, but it was only memorable for all of the great Country legends that appeared in it.
"Whispering Bill". Damn what an inspiration an inspiration to all who love country music.
