I just love this Sweeney, his voice is gorgeous and just perfect for the role. The sets are a bit weird, and the blocking and lighting is a little strange, but overall this is a very good production.
That would be mr. joey sanzaro, and he is now in the prestigious stella adler academy. I've had the pleasure of working with him on multiple occasions and there is no role he can't play, character wise or vocally (his range goes from f2 or f#2 all the way to notes above tenor high c (c5) in chest voice. hence someone who can actually play both sweeney and valjean. life is sometimes unfair to the rest of us)
i think the movie was better because it was bloodier and i'm a huge depp fan but i hold nothing against the play also i just can't see mrs lovett as an old woman i'm sorry i just can't though the play was more realalistic
@MyCc24 Consider though that Sweeney was in his early to mid-thirties when he was shipped to Australia, and that he was there for fifteen years. Mrs. Lovett was probably a few years younger but still around the same age as Sweeney, so she would be in her mid-to-late forties. As well, this was London in the 1840s era. People did not age well, especially the poor, and few who weren't rich lived to be what we consider old because of how expensive a good doctor could be.
Singing was absolutly brilliant. However i found some of the acting from Todd was little tired and he didn't really give it everything, wasn't angry enough at Begger Women and Anthony.
And you did really good job with Accents.
My secondary school (High School you call it in America) are doing Sweeney and i'm playing sweeney and cause we're british the accent bit is easy :P haha
I actually think todd's acting was great. it wasnt overthetop like most sweeneys. he was angry enough at bw and anthony without being obnoxious and i think it was good cause it was subtle. i dont think he looked tired or like he wasnt giving it his all whatsoever. also beggar woman has an awesome voice! anthony was pretty good too, really innocent. the orchestra messed up a bit though
Definitely the best Sweeney I've seen so far.
