This may be scary but the Resident Evil games, one and two got me going quite a bit. Also, Doom and Final Doom. All played on 'Hardest' setting too! May look into the Half-life games if I can play them on my laptop, which is only 1.5ghz.

@WakingLife55 because its an old game, the resolution is low and doesn't fit the entire screen. so usually companies put a border on the sides to fill in the open space.
