You cant tell someone who put their heart & sole in wrestling and its their life business that its fake..cause you have trained for years being the best at it etc.. Its like telling a TV actor as an example who has worked so hard that his business sucks and he is fake.How could you not expect Shultz to be mad..wrestling is like any TV show you watch as the final outcome is predetermined,but to use the word fake is not correct word,things go wrong or not as planned,wrestlers get hurt etc.

Why would someone be genuinely upset for calling something they do fake when everyone knows it is? Maybe they didnt in 1986. I was 8 and I believed it was real lol.

Schultz was -vigorously- told by his boss, Vince McMahon, (who knew damn well who he was dealing with), to "not take any shit" from Stossel. This is how dumb-ass-Dave interpreted those instructions, (exactly as Vince hoped he would). Makes the fake shit look real to chumps, & the McMahons have total deniability. (Personally, I make it a point to not call guys who can kick my ass "Fake". Not within arms reach, at least.)

In his deposition, Stossel stated that Eddie Mansfield(the wrestler who told him it was fake in this piece) told him not to go around Schultz talking about the business being fake. And stossel did it anyway.

I don't see how Stossel was being an idiot. If reporters had to worry about being beaten up for asking too many questions, they wouldn't be able to do their jobs and shady organizations would never be held accountable for their misconduct. Maybe telling the guy that his job is "fake" was a little insulting and inaccurate from his point of view, but the pro wrestling business did everything possible to keep the public thinking that it was a sport when it really isn't.
