  • Does he tries to sound like MJ, but the music's dope!

  • No, I missed seeing him by one year in Marquette, MI.

I had to, went home early, having to attend the . . . whoever wrote Diamond Girl concert. And that other band . . . such a dissappointment. BTO dissappointment.

  • is this in the Bass line Melville, Jhb?

  • I seen you dudes back in the 70s in Marquette Michigan. You guys rocked.

  • Super!

    Awesome!

  • I always felt that Shawn loved this superb song more than I did, and then I heard this version with Mauritz Lotz. Mauritz, you inspire Shawn brilliantly, and I wish you the most fulfilling life possible just for that.

Love the whole DVD, you guys!

  • One of the few purists in this commercial world. Shawn don't ever sellout! It's a pleasure to experience your shows & am looking forward to your next South African visit. Peace brother.

There's enough people out there chasing the quick buck, & not enough people like Shawn that say FVCK YOU to the giant recording companies. Rock on.

  • @TheTrickzta Don't worry, Shawn's integrity is way beyond selling out, and will remain that way forever. Your comments are totally on, otherwise, and I thank you for being a real person.

I'll bet you love "Radio", too! Shawn is so good, I consider him "scary good". There is absolutely no one better. Impossible to top him - he has it all, musically.

Will he ever have huge fame? Maybe not, but that is part of my vision of a brilliant future for real people.

    Health, love and clarity.

  • @Funandconsciousness Thanks m8 for your kind words. Peace. Thanks for the link ;) Shawn is awesome.

  • @Funandconsciousness Well said man

  • I DISAGREE I think his performance is exceptional its uncommercial and much better than seeing the stones sell out like a bunch of corporate losers with their veggie burgers and we have gone straight but we still rock attitude this guy is definately a guy you could have a pint with

  • Shawn's not what he was 30 years ago, who is? When a master sings and plays, you be quiet and remember. Nothing wrong with respect.

  • the album is Collaboration (A&M - 1971 is what my album cover says) Second Contribution was 1970 (A&M) Faces was 1972 and Bright White was 1973.

these few postings on YT are great but everyone please put Shawn's full name in the Tags and fill in the Information box with some enlightenment for the kids. Thanks.

  • I wish he would come to Europe for a few gigs, have been waiting 25 years.

  • He is the best acoustician I know. And if you've ever hear SWW>>>>in a church narthex on the PA you would agree fan or not.

  • mp3iffy works again wooohoooo awesome - google mp3iffy

  • I will see him in concert tonight!!!! Yeah!!!!!

  • Just too cool. Thanks Shawn.

  • This song is easy. It's mostly an E, and then G and F# for the other two chords. it's like: x 7 9 9 Yellow Flowers x 7 7 9 Bought Today x 10 12 12 Bought 'em from the man who x 9 11 11 Lives down the other way... repeat! And on the album version there's a bass figure that's E E2... E E2 D B and from the whole two live vids of this song i've seen, he takes huge liberties with how he plays it. Just jam on it until it sounds good to you.
  • No Luck on tabs for "Moonshine".

  • Looking for tabs for this song. Any help

    appreciated.

  • Hey Jizzman

Did ya get the tabs for Moonshine?

If so, let me have 'em mate.

    Thanks

  • I haven't heard Shawn Philips in years. I forgot what an impact he had on me and on my writing and playing. A true one of a kind artist and I am thankful to have run into this video, for a moment he and I are both younger and I listen as a student to a master.

  • amazing guitar work...shawn`s vocals remind me of the singer who passed away..he sang cat`s in the cradle..same vocal range...

  • That would be Harry Chapin

  • heard him on xm radio a studio verson never heard of him before and i am old does anybody have any info

  • Moonshine is Shawns trademark song. fan since late 70's . I only wish I could make it to another concert. Have been to several in Houston, tx

  • Still love him! I was kinda the outcast in school coz I liked music like this. Still outcast, still love it at 51 yrs old!

  • Imagine being a teen and loving the colaberation album now !! :) It's s total trip into your mind :)

  • I agree fully

  • Me too

and I'm still wishing I could play and sing that good. I think I have listened to Shawn on average about three times a week since 1974

  • @drdaverobinson

Ya cany beat him.. I have been enjoying him for a LOOOONG time myself. Freaks alot of people I know out. Dont know why... Just the voice I guess. No, just different than most listen to but I too am a little strang. LOL

  • @inatizzy2 I not only saw this arrogant fuck, I helped unload his truck once while working at the Belle Starr lodge in Colden NY. He made the entire bar shut up while he played, didn't even want to hear a cash register or he was "leaving". Maybe he was pissed that I charged him twenty bucks to help for ten minutes. Oh well, fuck him anyway, he's an asshole that plays like shit so I didn't stay to watch .

  • This song really reminds me of my brother who just turned 22 today - he loves Shawn Phillips more than most would think possible.

  • Great song, Great Artist xD Keep it up!!

  • Great song, thanks.

  • Shawn, you write great poetry (like your father) and perform like no other. If only we could turn back the clock. P&L

  • Still got it...and happy you're alive after all these years and performing given your seriouc heart condition and that horrific incident with your long hair getting caught in boat engine...Good Lord wants you around a bit longer!

  • WAY COOL!

Shawn after all these years you still captivate your audience and they are always blown away by your musicianship.

Thank you for being who you are and what you represent, also thank you for saving the lives of those in desperate need.......

  • wow..remember when i first heard contribution...was blown away.....thanks for bringing it all back......wow..

  • dammit! still good, but still like the original recording better

  • Oh yeah...can't believe that was over 30 years ago Dan!

  • gad remember we saw him

  • Breath-taking! Go Shawn, Go! Good on ya all-waze, Brother!!

Love this song! I used to play it at Open Mics & coffeehouses when I was 19!!
