@Tr1kx I'm from Edinburgh, and I think you're missing out by avoiding the festival! Surely there's something for everyone? In August, Edinburgh becomes one of the most exciting places to be in the world - it's a shame if your "self-respect" prevents you from enjoying it!
In truth, the festival is really for tourists, and students. The income generated by bona fide wealthier visitors (i.e. not students) helps pay for our disastrous "tram set" project. The atmosphere can be quite jolly, but the natives don't join in, we just tolerate it. Most self-respecting Edinburians avoid the festival like the plague, except for the superb (free) fireworks finale, which I strongly recommend for anyone reading this.
Oh dear. It's like when you hear of a great movie that wows everyone, then some other director comes along with a copy-cat film which has a £500 budget, goes straight to DVD and features "star" names on the front like PACINO (except it's Kevin Pacino), CLOONEY (Sarah), JOLIE (Bernard) and KIDMAN (Donna).
In other words, a poor version of a great original.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
T-mobile dance is part of adverts for T-mobile, where people spontaneously start dancing in a public plance. And yes this is the Gyle. It even shows a banner in the centre!
i think there should be one day where every city nationwide..or world wide ((if that was possible))..gathers in their Time Square..or you know..like where their govenor && court house is. && they just dance..or sing..or whatever.
it would be one day out of decades to finally experience a bit of peace.
As far as things are going, with all of us facing crisis and its consequences, I second that... we should all get together to sing and dance in joy and peace.
If we took a holiday, just some time to celebrate... all across the world in every nation, as Madonna used to sing.
i think the easiest way to do that would be during new year or new years' eve. i truly wish it would happen someday.. wonder who'll organise it.. i would do it in Malaysia in conjuction with the world.
@ASHtotheLYNN There is. Check out Improv Everywhere and lookout international dance days. One that I know happens every year is Thrill The World, where Thriller is done in over 80 nations now, haha.
shakirapwns > "would of been great if t-mobile had TOLD SOME PEOPLE ABOUT IT."
Beyond the core performers (dancers, etc), the whole idea is spontaneous, unplanned, reactions from people who just happen to be passing by. If people were widely told in advance, all of that would be lost. I've been told you can contact T-Mobile's advertising department to request participation in one of their upcoming events, but don't really know how reliable that info is.
it's a fail that 500 people didnt do it together? granted its not as impressive, but i think its great that they did this and had a good time. thats all that counts.
I agree. They really look like they're enjoying themselves and I think it's awesome. I wish more people would just relax and have fun instead of worrying about what other people think of them.
Yeah, the T-mobile dance commercial where they had tons of people made sense. This - not so much.
