"Tumbleweed Connection" was incredible in a time of incredible music. Hit Houston like a ton of titanium. shit , i would of loved to be there. Jethro Tull played left people saying WTF . Pretty cool ALL on reliable sourses.

do you think its harder to take a sheet of lyrics and make a hit song out of it like elton does or is it harder to , already have the lyrics in your brain and then create the song like , lets say someone like billy joel will . i think its harder the way elton creates them ?

A beautiful and provocative song. Elton John's early work has an energy that his later persona cannot match. The lyrics, furthermore, actually make sense -- unlike much of Taupin's verses, which had meaning when Elton John sang them. (He could have sung out the most grinding chapter of a contracts law textbook, while playing the piano, and it would have sounded soulful.) Does anyone know why so many of their songs were concerned with guns (with Confederate 'freedom' fighters as their narrators?)
