How on earth could an uneducated gypsy with 2 good fingers create so much unbelievable music. I have 2 college degrees and 10 good fingers and can't even play twinkle, twinkle little star without messing up.
@xylophonedaydream After many years of playing and listening, I have concluded that some people have a gift and others, like me for example, can only go so far due to limited intelligence and natural ability. But I keep agoin.
@lafreeway all these pop science books make the argument that proficiency is really rooted in tenacity. I agree that to match geniuses like Django tenacity can only go so far...
i'm looking to buy a selmer style guitar, does anyone have any advice they could give me? right now i'm loking at the gitane 250, since its the cheapest and has some good reviews, but if anyone has any suggestions they would be MUCH appreciated. :)
I tried a gitane 250 and a gitane d500 in hobgoblin music in london and thought the d500 was by far the better guitar. I bought it on the spot and think it is one of the best gypsy guitars you can buy for under £1000. (i paid £540) It sounds better than some that sell for over £1000. A guy i know who has 2 top end gypsy guitars had a go on it and was amazed by what you get for £500! A problem you might find is that a lot of shops have crappy strings on them which doesn't help.
argentines made by savarez of france are the ones that everybody seems to use. ALthough more and more manufacturers are making a gypsy string. they are silver plated. They make any acoustic guitar sound a bit 'gypsy'. I put them on a dreadnought recently and it sounded great.
Hi, on 0:49 you are missing an F chord, then you follow on F#Dim as you are already doing. just give it a try. Other than that it sounds pretty good. Thanks for sharing
What do you mean by "as you are already doing"? There is no F#dim in his playing and there shouldn't be any. This chord simply does not fit in this tune (and F either). Gianny77 does not miss anything, believe me.
Ok, now I got what you mean. In case this is the B-part, the F sounds fine in my ears. It replaces the last Dm (Gianni77 plays Dm three times). But your following chords do not sound right to my ears. After that F chord I would recommend an Ab6 followed by an Am and so on.
Still what Gianni77 does here has a real thought-out voice leading. I would be reluctant to change anything.
hey man this video is fucking awesome. ive had it on my favorites for months and ive always tried to learn the chords for it, but always got discouraged and stopped playing the progression. but tonight i watched your video again and found the final piece (it was the d shaped chord that kept screwing me up)so thanks for the video your playing is so smooth and efortless.
Gianni77, un grand merci pour avoir aider toutes les debutants comme moi acceder à cette musique qu'on aimme tellement! Et merci le coup de pouce pour les accords en tab. Spread the word - play the music - Django forever!
@Gianni77 first part isn't correct try 4x3450 3x3443 where x - means - mute and 0 - open string instead of 4x3455 xx3443 so... my first part will looks like this (will some modifications - same sound but easy to play) x3545x 7x675x x0565x xx7765 7x675x 5x5557 5x5550 4x3450 3x3443 good lack!
Johann est le frère de francky, C'est tout, je le sais jlai pas inventé ok? Et bien sur qu'il est au courant alors va mettre des commentaires pourries sur d'autre vidéos que sur les miennes.

I believe that chord after the Am6 with the question mark is a G13b9 with the b9 voiced in the bass (Ab) -correcto?

What scales do you use if playing his style?
IntellBox 2 years ago
you mainly use arpeggi and chromatic passing notes as well as whole chromatic scales. good luck :)
iMeAndMyselfAndMe 2 years ago
well this is in cmaj7. so use that to start with and then change with the chords.
of course use arpeggios etc

Well, just give a try in that part; Cmaj7/ E7/ E7/ A7/ A7/Dm /Dm/ F/ Gbdim /Cmaj7 /A7/D7/G7/Cmaj7.
