iv never drove a iroc but my car (i think most 91-92 rs) has the f41 suspension package which is the z28 suspension so even if there is a little difference not enough to root out an rs
@cameron7710 Hey is it possible to have a RS Z28 Iroc? I just bought a Camaro from my neighbor the other day and it says RS like yours on the back and on the sides, but then on the glovebox it says Z28 in orange and iroc-z under it. Are they two seperate cars or can you have it all? I was reading your comment and you made it sound like it was two seperate cars.
@ubcs109 nope cant have them all rs is a rally sport and z28s are z28s but them there are iroc-z28 so i-rocs and z28s are the same thing. but there are ways to tell the difference. first of its its an 84 or older its not an iroc and if it 91-92 its ether a z28 or rs no iroc-z option. and and if its a v6 its not an iroc then there is the injection if its carbed it could be ether an iroc-z or a z28 if its tune port injection it is an iroc-z or z28 if its and if its tbi then most likly its a rs
@cameron7710 Hey I appreciate all your help. I got one final question. Where's the horn located in these cars? I need to change it out so my car can be legal but I can't seem to find it or where it goes.
If it has the 5 speed. its a 305. it was impossible to get the 350 TPI with the manual. it wasnt offered. if the 5speed is stock, then it originally came with a 305, not rs had 15" wheels, z28s had 16" also the z28 had a wing on the back. maybe tha thelps
@cameron7710 no third gens came factory with a 350 and a 5 speed either so dont let someone tell you its a 350 unless the 8th digit in the VIN is an 8. There is a 305 with TPI that came with a 5 speed and it's an F engine code which is very similar in power to the 350 but it was only an option in the Z28. The E engine code is a 305 with a TBI intake which is what RS cars have and some of those did come with 5 speeds.
@cameron7710 Alright, after a few days of research I found out that it was not an Lt1 in my car. Its a L98. Took a guy at O'Rileys who owns two third gen camaros to figure it out. I have a video I will probobly upload in the next few minutes. I took it with my camera phone, so its not the greatest of quality. All it is, is just a quick exhaust note video. Thanks for your help again.
the ONLY difference in the z28 and the iroc z28 was, the iroc came with 16", instead of 15" wheels on the z28. and the 350 was only offered in the iroc z28. the 305 was the biggest v8 offered for the z28. for 1991 and 92 there was only a z28 model. oh and the iroc z28 had stiffer sway bars in the bad to help grip the road. thats IT.
welll its a v8 this video dosnt show the full potenal of the exhaust cause was i onley reved it to about 4000 if i take it all the way to red line there is no mistaking what kida engine it has
Sounds pretty amazing, mine idle high too when it's started... if you ever want to sell that exhaust when you upgrade, I'd buy it from you... $250 sound good? I think a system like that goes for around $400 new. It's a catback with a single in dual out right?
The funniest thing about the 1991 and '92 Camaro is that everyone nowadays wants an RS!!! They get snapped up so fast... the Z28's don't sell half as well... personally, I think it's because of the oversized spoiler. The '91-92 RS is the sexiest third gen Camaro ever made =)
my 91 Z has that spoiler, and I like it. I thought it was aftermarket though when I first bought it cause it was the first one I saw with it on. I like the 91-92 hood also. the one with the blisters instead of the vents. Neither are functional, but the blisters look better I think
Sounds great, can you tell me exactly what setup you have? Headers, catback, series? I'd like my car to rumble and rev like that! That's probably the first mod I'll be doing to my car, exhaust. GM really took away from the RS's 305, they put extremely restrictive exhaust on, a tiny cam, the smallest intake imaginable, and heads that hardly even do their job. The only positive thing GM made about the 305 is the eight cylinders. I can't wait to make my car's engine what GM didn't! Nice ride!
thanks, and ya they could have made them 305s better but the best part about them is they last for ever. and as far as my system im not 100% about every thing cause the car came with the exhaust but as far as i can tell it has no headers just the stock manifolds and stock y pipe but i know it has a hi-flow cat and i think just flowmaster cat-back system with 2.25" pipes and a flowmaster 80 series muffler.but when i get some money i plan on redoing the system with headers and 3" pipes
Sounds nice. I have a 305 too but they just always seem to sound the same no matter what exhaust you get. Its probably that weak cam they put in them. But anyways that looks and sounds pretty good.
it sounds good in the interior ima get some videos of it drivin from the inside up next time i take it out(i dont have a license so i dont get her out to much) but ill probley have a video up by next weekend maybe
Sounds good that Z28 :)

You're very lucky having that car!!! I love how the car's rear part twists a bit when the gas pedal is pressed, late cars never do that.

that car sounds healthy man, nice, i do like how the rs camaros are low to the ground like the irocs, nice car

I've been looking at both RS and Iroc-Z camaros. Is there a big enough change in handling to look only at the Iroc?

@cameron7710 Thanks for the quick reply. Its a 92 with a LT1 and a 5 speed trans. So would it be a RS or a Z28?
ubcs109 1 year ago
@ubcs109 hmm well they didnt come with lt1 in 92 that started on the 4th gens in 93 so if it has an lt1 it was swaped in and dosnt tell me anything

Awesome strong running 305 motor sound there. Sounds just like my '90 camaro RS 305 TBI V8. Nice paint on your ride and choice of pipes.
