  • still prefer having the original music ^^

  • why did the stegosaurus die in this movie

  • One of my favorites Fantasia sequences.

  • I always used to get in fights with my firends in school about our favorite segments for fantasia. Even though i'm a girl I always loved Night on Bald Mountain and Rite of Spring while all my girl friends loved Pastoral Symphony. psh they just didn't know the good stuff lol

  • Stegosaurus is dancing.... from 6:01 on.

  • God...This reminds me how shitty nowadays cartoons and animation is now.

...I want stuff like this back. Good times...

    /rant

  • One of my favourite segments from Fantasia, and it has a special childhood meaning for me. In music theory class, the girls all wanted to see the Pastoral Symphony, while me and the other boys wanted to see the Rite of Spring. This is a powerful segment in its own right, beautiful and visceral. Also nice to see a down-to-earth representation of dinosaurs in a cartoon, and back in the conservative 40s at that!

  • Well atl least they put feathers on the raptors, to those complaining about accuracy.

  • I just wish this were more accurate, but it's still good

  • @swimicus This was made in the 40's... this is all they knew about dinosaurs at the time and as such it is as accurate as it possibly could have been.

  • When the land is shifting around it sounded like some kind of machine and I thought that was what it was. I thought a giant machine was coming out of the ground. But give me a break, I was little.

  • 5:00 most scariest Scene of disney ever made, ever. Maybe only secunded by night at the bald mountain, of Fantasia too.

Damn, the old times when disney wasn't 100% correct and polite, but surely was 100% awesome (I started interesting by dinosaurs the day I saw this scene, when I was 8 or so).

    Fuck you, hannah montana.

  • micro raptor at 02:50. disney, you scary, you predicted the future.

  • thumbs up if u found this on the fantasia/fantasia 2000 dvd

  • Man i really love dinosaurs.

  • That t-rex was the scariest thing of this movie for me. I used to cover my eyes when he appeared on screen

  • This is freaking little foot and the Great Valley movie man. . . a lot of shots are really the same

  • bellissimo, Walt Disney is the best!!!

  • Loved this part as a kid.

  • My God this frightened the living daylights out of me when I was a kid, y'know, hiding behind the sofa 'til it wasn't scary any more, that kind of frightened

  • After seeing this I wanted a baby Pterodactyl sooo bad!!!!!!!!

  • I always loved the way they animated the dinosaurs eating things...

  • Nice upload, left a lasting impression on me as a kid. :) It's quite brutal!

  • this part used to freak me out when i was a kid

  • that was stupid

  • 3:25

hmm... coulda swore i was the only one tha drank like that...

  • 1 person got eaten by the T-Rex...

  • God that DUN DUN DUN trumpet sound is ANNOYING! And how do you weel bad for the stegosaurus thing when after it dies peaceful music plays..?

  • This is probably the inspiration for Land before Time

Also. That is probably an allosaurus. T-rex does not have 3 fingers

  • Behold, the genesis of my childhood fascination with dinosaurs.

  • and also, t rex had a two fingered hand and a bigger size

it's jurassic we are talking here

  • 4:05 AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW! CUTE TRICERATOP KIDDIES!!! :D

  • This was my favorite part when i was a kid

  • Damn, That Pterosaur got owned by that Mosasaurus.

  • i always cried when the stegasauros died :( dam sharptooth

  • I remember back as a kid, I was frightened of that T-Rex but at the same time I loved dinosaurs and I was also interested. Awesome feeling. Fantasia's awesome! :)

  • this is original disney not the stuff u get now i wish they would still make them like this

  • Ah, this... THIS is what the TRUE Disney is!

  • 70 years later, and that tyrannosaurus still looks like a badass!

  • awesome!!

  • hardcore Disney hardcore.

  • 12:38 video: 1940 animated film Fantasia segment with music The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky; lead animator for climatic dinosaur fight was Wolfgang Reitherman (June 26, 1909 – May 22, 1985).

  • The great horseman Famine hath come...

  • when the drought came, all i could think of was Ron Burgundy saying " It's so damn hot"

  • you want to know what i like about this segment? the animation was made about 30 or 40 years before the land before time, and it still looks good! that, and dinosaurs are awesome.

  • I muted this and rewound it back to 4:50, then played "Eye of the Tiger" over it from when the T-rex appears to when he kills the stegosaurus. Had to be done! Poor steggie, though.

  • This makes me want to watch Land Before Time

  • I honestly don't believe a predatory dinosaur would have ever decided to aim it's head anywhere NEAR a Stegosaurus's tail. I call that reckless and suicidal.

  • @Cinedragon yeah and 7:03 is where OMNOMNOM came from

  • damn i forgot how brutal this movie was... \m/

  • wish they still did animation like this these days D:

  • @TheDrunkenMonkeyinc Yes, I would kill for hand drawn animation. In fact, I have! lol kidding

  • @2nDoppelganger Yep it sure would be great!"!!!!

  • @2nDoppelganger We've raped and smashed CGI into the earth, enough is enough. this shit was godly. if only the two could exist in harmony, but now everything is fricking controlled by computer graphics. To quote Duke Nukem; "This really pisses me off."

  • @2nDoppelganger sadly CGI is cheap to make

  • It's hard for me to pick a favorite Fantasia sequence, but this one is definitely up there. I wanted to be a paleontologist as a child, and this part always encouraged me and helped me keep that excitement. That dream has, even so, fallen by the wayside, but I still love dinosaurs and this bit of animation will always be special to me. Thanks for the upload.

  • @sarahewright9 I think we all share a special enthusiasm for this piece. Out of all of my Fantasia uploads, this is by far the most popular. Thanks for the comment.

  • @2nDoppelganger probably cause when we were all kids, we probably were crazy about dinosaurs.

  • @sarahewright9 This, and the land before time 1, I tell you right before Jurrassic Park in 1992 as a six year old kid I was stricken with dino-fever. models, toys you name it I sought it. I first saw this when I was five. 1991. man, those were kickass days. to bad I can never return to them

  • @sarahewright9 i had the same dream like u, wen i was a child, and i still love dinos

  • @sarahewright9 thats the same with me wanted to be one as a kid but never got the grades :(

  • 6:55 So that's where Dun dun duuuuuun! came from

  • I always cried when the t-rex killed the steg...

  • Compare this amazing animation to current animation. Look up "Problem solverz" and have a brain anurism.

  • The part at 6:54 upset me so much when I was little. I wanted the Stegosaurus to win, and it ended up dying...

  • all the things they're eating look so tasty

  • oh man do i love this movie. it would look so cool in 3D tho, just sayin

  • 08:34 those dinosaurs are ended up of dying on Starvation and Dehydration on the brink of extinction.

08:40 just like the Edmontosaurus died of Starvation and Dehydration.

08:48 those Stegosaurs and Apatosaurs are dying of by the heat exhaustion by getting trapped in the mud.

09:19 The Allosaurus died and fallen on the ground of Starvation and Dehydration and finally at 09:50 all the dinosaurs all died, the skins rotten away left behind is the remaining dinosaur bones.

  • I remember feeling so sorry for the dinos!!!

  • the t rex used to make me shit my pants when i was little lol :)

  • I'm surprised people still refer the predator as T-Rex. Hasn't anybody noticed that thats an Allosaurus. Its got three fingers. T-Rex has two. But i understand cuz during the time this was made, Allosaurus wasn't discovered.

  • @jango3 Allosaurus would have made more sence, because-according to the evolutionary model this vid follows, T. Rex & Stegosaurus didn't exist at the same time, but Allosaurus & the same did. Steg & Big Al were of the Jurrasic , T. Rex was of the Cretacious

  • @jango3 Coincidently I pointed that out to my mom and dad when I first saw this. its a freaking allosaurus. they never figured that out till they had me as a kid.

  • this is brilliant.

  • the only good thing with dinosaurs disney made

  • @EATIT41 what about the cg movie Dinosaur? no love? That was awesome for 2000 cg

  • @VenomsRage815 eh im just saying it was not there best

  • Oh come on, in real life that t-rex would have been fucked after taking those spikes to the face the first time. I mean look! Those are three foot long spikes!

  • one creepy ass trex

  • This was my favorite part.

  • @Woutorius yea mine too haha

  • DAMN NATURE YOU SCARY !!!!!!!

  • It's strange, to me this animation looks like it was made in the 70s or 80s, not the 1940s.

  • @WalDemento999 I have always thought the same thing.

  • @WalDemento999 Woah, I allways thought it was 90s.....

  • @WalDemento999 that is because Disney was amazing and put all of their soul into their work... Sigh something that i feel they have been lax in as of late.

  • @WalDemento999 it's way ahead of its time yeah

  • i like this segment.

  • great memories of this :)

  • @JoeLambert1 Yes, it is truly a classic! I loved this as a child and my passion for it hasn't faded a bit
