Before U buy any of samsungs JUNK tvs put SAMSUNG TV CLICKING into a google search and read why THOUSANDS of samsung customers are screwed and pissed off.
50 inch Samsung? In plasma? dude you think its cool now - but in a year when its red hue takes over the screen or the power surge amps it - you'll wish you bought a Panasonic or Pioneer - check out Consumer Reports and other mags like home theatre - Samsung is an LCD company not good with Plasma at all. Although I would guess you got a good deal on an 07 from Samsung because they have a bunch left. Take it back -trade it in-before its too late! a good sales person would have been honest.
I worked for Samsung for a few years, I know first hand of their red phosphor and power surge problems in over 40" displays. Their customer service to fix it is really bad. Panasonic has a program where they deliver a loaner plasma to you! And (CR) reports them as having the lowest service issues. Sound & Vision, home theatre mag etc. has engineers who actually test, amazon reviews are anyone including possible samsung employees if they are still conducting the same viral marketing campaigns.

You encouraged me to do a lot of research and I'm happy to announce that according to the endless pages of Google that I read (forum posts, customer reviews, articles, pro reviews etc.) apparently Samsung fixed the vast majority of their usual problems with the FPT5084
I also have a default 2 year warranty, and getting a 5 year expanded just in case. But thanks for the insight bro, appreciate it.
Cool - glad to help - I love technology and I am a HUGE plasma fan - so I want to support everyone in purchasing - and it is great that you are a gamer! LCD refresh rates won't ever compare to the speed of a plasma - enjoy!
Indeed, I heard they have a new refresh rate for LCD, I guess it's 120hz? But apparently what it actually does is create a shadow image of each frame in an attempt to stop motion blur.. so it's not technically 2x the refresh rate
i bought this same tv 8 month ago. had a problem with "Blue snow" and Samsung sent an engineer out next day to update the firmware...no problems since. not even burn in.
