I will be going to Odessa at the beginning of August. I am so looking forward to it. I just hope it will not be too hot at that time - I can't really stand too much heat. In any case I think I am going to have a wonderful time in what appears to be a fascinating and beautiful city.
@ThePROTO1TYPE - Yes, it will be hot but, since the city is located on the coast, there is sometimes a gentle breeze. The evenings are a joy to wander around the city, along the promenade and through the park. Especially good, if you're youngish, is Arcadia on the beach, west of city centre - full night life, discos, restaurants and people watching!
For average temperatures, put "average temperature Odessa Ukraine" into google and check out Eurometeo (usually at the top).
@Odessite Thanks for that information. No I am NOT "youngish", ha ha. I am 51, yikes. But still have plenty of energy and enthusiasm for seeing new places.
@trancehi - Make sure you come late Spring, summer or early autumn. It is freezing at the moment. In fact, the Black Sea has frozen around the beaches and port sea front areas!
saludos a esa hermosa ciudad.....sin duda alguna entre las mas bellas del mundo.......ke me acojio durante dos anios...simplemente una hermosura.....espero verte pronto a ti y a tus muy felices ciudadanos........
@formulaaaaaaaaaaaaaa There are a lot of Turkish men and women in Odessa, especially at the famous 7km (7 kilometers from the city centre) market where they carry out their businesses selling mostly leather goods. Nice people and very friendly.
What about the Russian mob controling 82% of the companies in Odessa, the 10,000 homeless childeren living under in the sewer. The largerest horbour in the Ukraine you say, the largest that is also responable for alot, and I mean ALOT of weapon dealing. Don't get me wrong, I dont say there aren't any positive thing to say about Odessa, but it's not like you counterfact the negative things about the city.....
@alivewire13 That's true! I married one. Best thing I ever did without a doubt. That aside, Odessa is a brilliant place - great markets, interesting historical sites and buildings, warm, welcoming and friendly people, safe and a great place to live.

I've been to Kiev three times and Yalta once. I never made it to Odessa. I didn't know Pushkin stayed there.
JayGatsbyOdysseus 4 months ago
@JayGatsbyOdysseus - Indeed. There are a number of Pushkin statues and in the centre, Pushkin Street, some 50 meters from our apartment.
You would love Odessa, especially the Arcadia Area of the beach.
