@jabberwolf I don't know if they'll have better seats, but I know it's the first airliner to have LED lighting as a standard, "smart" glass that allows you to actually dim the windows, cabin air with a higher pressure and humidity that, according to a joint study between Boeing and the OSU, will increase comfort significantly, and engines that are designed to significantly reduce noise.
Damn I was hoping they would've had the first one roll outta South Carolina. You know, kinda a big fuck you to the NLRB. Unions are the evil ones in this case. "You should only build factories in places where we can force people to give us money. Now if the state said they can't be given money I'd understand, but don't have to? Eat shit, union racketeers. Also, yay science technology & innovation.
@dmvallaccess Its supposed to be efficient enough to save millions in fuel cost, so airlines could certainly make tickets cheaper with it, but I doubt very much that they'll pass that savings on to consumers.
@Out9922 More than half of the sub componenents are built in Asia . In fact the entire wing . Otherwise they Asians would not buy it . What would I know only worked 20 years in commercial aviation . Soon another industry gone . Parts are shipped to the US and assembled .
@Starry2000 "...big differences...". Name them. (without looking it up), on second thought, don't bother. If it doesn't fix the economy, end war, clean the Gulf of Mexico, stop the radiation from Fukushima, cure cancer, feed the hungry, house the homeless, etc. it's not NEWS, just a distraction.
@Starry2000 Is that the best you got? LMAO. Grow up. You shouldn't make hyperbolic statements that are empty and totally devoid of any real knowledge. It makes you look foolish.
I guess in your little world nobody challenges you when you make those silly remarks. Oops, sorry, I didn't mean to "rock your world".
@grizzzlyjoe "You shouldn't make hyperbolic statements that are empty and totally devoid of any real knowledge."
The comment I made to you when you had asked what was the big difference between this plane and older models:
"size and other things. they should have elaborated but there are big differences"
That was "hyperbolic" to you? Are you on a 5 day crack cocaine binge or what? Oh and, I was correct about this one being a lot bigger than the other models. You need to be spam flagged.
@raazstone this story is only being aired to boost Boeing stocks, and I guess as a morale boost to the "american spirit" - since boeing is a US company, airing cases of success always ingratiates the establishment.
Best looking commercial aircfraft ever...still love the 747...but this bird is gorgeous!!

Number one question:
Will the economy seats FINALLY have comfortable seats or will it be a lower back torture machine on a 14 hour flight?!
We dont ask for much, thats all I want !!!

Is this because Russia just had an air show?

the 787 is much lighter than previous airliners, its body and wings are made of composite construction. A first for a passenger airliner.

Looks like a normal airplane to me... what's "Better" about it?
This clip has no information other than talking about the delays....
Uhg.. i hate the media...
PyROphantasie 6 months ago 10
@PyROphantasie Do pay attention to the flexible wings in the " take off " scene just before the end of the clip.
The materials used to build this plane are what is different from the previous boing models.
A would imagine the differance to you as a passinger would be in comfort and speed.
Don't mind my bad english ...European :P

It's always a victory to overcome the obstacles set by government.
Lets all take a moment to thank our government for keeping us safe..
We can all agree that if it were not for the government, Boeing would build unsafe planes to guarantee their survival in the market.
Getting permission from the government is a reason to celebrate?
LMAO

@ForbesFortune Oh, you could never be more wrong ... it's super-terrific. It has wings and ... uh ... other stuff ;)
If they were REALLY smart, they would use Pig-skin upholstery, then they wouldn't have to worry about Islamic Terrorists sitting in the seats.
