this is an Eurasian tree sparrow... lovely little guy, not a threat in the USA like the house sparrow - these are found in a limited area around St Louis, MO USA ... sweet and fun little birds
Thanks for posting this video! When I was in China and Tibet a few years ago I didn't get a chance to hear this species of Eurasian Tree Sparrow because I was always on the go and it got quite busy. In the U.S. the House Sparrow doesn't have a nice song like this bird in the video.
He is so gorgeous - we have a pet sparrow called Spoggy here in Australia, also a male - but ours is a house sparrow - this is a very lovely video! love and light - Susan and Spoggy the sparrow
This is a perfectly happy and healthy bird. When birds are ill they don't sing and they droop. The fact that he is standing on one leg shows that he is content and comfortable here in his surroundings.
Where I am (Australia) Sparrows are actually a pest. They were brought over to make Australia more 'british' and now we can't get rid of them.
I like that little sparrow, I didn't know they can sing so many different tunes. Well done with your filming. A bird who isn't happy surely won't sing!!!!
This poor bird has either had his wings clipped or is sick.
Anyway, a bird, especially a wild bird, has no place inside a human dwelling.
I wish people would finally grasp and accept the fact that animals are not the personal slaves of humans, put on Earth for their entertainment and enjoyment.
If you knew anything about birds you would know that if a young bird has to be handfed (for whatever reason) they imprint on humans and can't be released. The sparrow looks happy and healthy to me, as ebotica says it wouldnt sing if it wasnt!
The European who visited Japan in the 16~18th century is surprised that a wild dog or a wild bird do not fear people at all in Japan. When the dog is sleeping in the center of a road, the European is recording with surprise that Japanese people bypass a dog.
Wow-you seem awfully quick to judge, and awfully ignorant about the habits of birds in general. First, I see no evidence in this video that this bird's wings are clipped. Second, a sick songbird is unlikely to sing at all, let alone for nine minutes straight. Third, how do you know this poster isn't a wildlife rehabilitator?
I'm not saying that would be the only legitimate reason a "wild" bird might be indoors, but I am saying that you should probably save your vitriol for more appropriate contexts, i.e., when you know more about your target. An even better idea might be to rechannel the energy you're expending in bitterness, and maybe volunteer at an animal shelter.
Loved the footage,...........I started feeding the wild Sparrows in my garden about six months ago,
they now come to my kitchen window and take food from my hands, thanks for sharing and best wishes for the future !

ネット動画ならではのものですね。
この様子をテレビで10分間流すはずはないし、

ありきたりなスズメについて、わざわざDVD化して売ろうという企画も起こらないでしょうし...
