Why r ppl saying not to shampoo your ends? Grease accumulates there as well and your ends will end up stringy and waxy without shampooing. A good leave in conditioner applied to the ends will keep moisture in

ok, so i have very thick hair. when i cleanse it, it always ends up greasy around the scalp and the underside of my head. i shampoo twice and scrub out thouroughly and condition. i use about a quarter size of shampoo each. i have NO clue what i'm doing wrong because apparently im the only person who cant get their hair clean. when i go to the salon, they do it perfectly! what am i doing! oh i take showers, so the stream of water is not the same (if thats a factor)

Make sure the shampoo you're using does not create tons of build-up. Many of them do! The best way to tell is to look at the opacity of the shampoo: If it is completely clear, it is usually a great anti-residue shampoo. But to be sure, I would try to pick one that says "anti-residue" or "eliminates build-up" Suave and Neutrogena make greats ones! And most importantly, NEVER spend alot of money on any shampoo or hair products to cure hair issues. It's all a scam...

BTW, if that doesnt work. You may have hard water where you live - this will deposit harmless film on the hair, sometimes 

making hair a little weighted or greasy. I think I will look for a shower-head filter for mine since I live in the city. (my scalp has started acting up since i moved here)

@skylerswift for u 2 ladies who have greasy heads I've heard that scrubbing n rubbing too much can stimulate the oil! I also think make sure u only put conditioner at the ends not where the greasy patches are - hope this helps!

You have to get your fingers and nails down in there and scrub those roots, especially at the forehead and base, get all that nasty oil out.  Then the hair is nice and bone dry and smells good too.

This is far too much shampoo and for many people, not nearly enough conditioner. She's got fairly thin hair, though. There is no need to lather all the way down the length, as the suds that flow down the length will be sufficient.
