I wouldn't say Wallace blew anyone away... I think Ron Paul has a different interpretation (and in my opinion, a more accurate interpretation) of what the constitution's intent is. I don't think he is ignorant for having those views. I think we are labeling him under the same terms as someone who opposed legalized slavery in America. Do we agree with the Dred Scott Case of 1857? No! Should we accept that a 1937 court ruled in favor of social security? Absolutely not! Keep fighting Ron Paul!
I have infinite understanding for those who are not capable to see the intellectual difference between Chris Wallace and the old Texan fool. "Service of truth is the hardest service" :)))
@DeathMetalPatriot What would you say constitutes the general welfare clause then? Its open for interpretation, for sure. Also, the decision of some "statist" on the Supreme Court holds more water than a politician running for president. The power of judicial review exists in the judicial branch, not the executive one.
Ron Paul is right about the "general welfare" clause but he was wrong on everything else in the video basically because he is almost seemly not defending constitutional government but rather anarchism.
But Paul's last comment of being supported mostly by young people reminds me of Barrack Obama's following in 2008. I believe for most people now-a-days adolescence doesn't end until you are in your early 30's in which you have ignorant college students supporting Paul out of him being a fad.
@marinefootball45 I went to college, but because I have Asperger's Syndrome which allows me to have pause, I am immune from social pressure to just jump on a bandwagon which is nothing more than an ignorant fad and allows me to critically think. If you agree with everything he says, have you really thought the issue through? Rather than accept that he is right on face value are you willing to do your own investigation & thought to see if he is wrong? That is Critical Thought.
@MrConservative608 I have Asperger Syndrome as well and am a college student studying philosophy. Being under 30 you might think whatever I have to say is invalid, but I invite you to see this.
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 1) I will not automatically think that whatever someone who is under 30 says is invalid, however I do automatically think that whatever someone who is under 30 says is less informed and / or lacking in understanding of this world. Lets be clear on that since you are studying philosophy and are use to word perfect arguments. I saw that video all the way through to be fair but I already have an intimate understanding of Ron Paul's positions.
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 2) #1. Ron Paul is not a conservative as defined by conservatives. He is a libertarian that has some conservative beliefs. I believe that Ron Paul would have called Ronald Reagan a neo-con, which would mean a RINO because of his foreign policy and growing the federal budget in the cold war, despite Ronald Reagan's vigorous positions about eliminating the Department of Education and cutting federal spending. Reagan had a Democrat congress that prevented that.
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 3) #2. Ron Paul & libertarians that don't have confidence in the paper U.S. Dollar and say that it is not backed by anything do not have a good understanding of macro-economics. Inflation in times of economic growth (please note "in times of economic growth" because a lot of Ron Paul supporters don't hear that when I say it) prevents deflation. Deflation is what caused the bank failures which caused the Great Depression, not the stock market crash of 1929.
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 4) That last fact is documented in Milton Friedman's "Free to Choose: Anatomy of a Crisis" documentary. Even though Milton Friedman believed that a fiat currency had to be backed by gold, what I believe he didn't realize is that the production of new products & services (i.e. wealth creation) can back a fiat currency.
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 5) #3. I believe Ron Paul's & libertarians' view on war is not an intellectually honest assessment of threats but a fiscally driven crusade to balance the federal budget. Outside of our civilized country, in the third world, it is a mistake to assume that people need a rational reason to hate. Another reason why they are wrong is that it fails to put all world history into perspective.
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 6) What I mean by "it fails to put all world history into perspective" is that for all of human history on this planet, a handful of nations with in the past two and a half centuries out of thousands of years have figured out a way out of back braking labor in the fields & into a standard of living that is envious to the rest of the world. Do they want capitalism so they can be like us? No. Instead, like a dumb bully, they want to destroy it.
@MrConservative608 I am not interested in getting into a political "argument" with you, but I'm sure someone will appreciate what you have written so they may apply their own critical thought.
@TheCreatorOf4 As a philosophy student, I would have thought that the technology of the Internet is the ideal spot for philosophical debate among people of various backgrounds as long as it is civilized. I am someone with a degree in a technological field involving electronics/computers and have hoped that the creation of the Internet would be a great step forward for lots of people to research legitimate sources of information & share ideas.
@tr2006x Yes, he lost Florida unfortunately. So here's the thing. I watched this entire interview carefully. This was actually a really good interview between the both of them, I learned a lot in fact. I don't see anyone getting "blown out the water", embarrassed, humiliated, etc. If not I myself saw a great wealth of knowledge being put fourth. So, the title of this video is in fact misleading.
@DeathMetalPatriot OK, forget that Wallace is much smarter than him, that is not important now. What do you think about Ron Paul's ignorance regarding the Constitution?
@tr2006x Ignorance is not what you saw there. You saw the views Wallace has, and I assume you have, of interpreting the constitution, conflicting with the views of Paul.
I think its very interesting that when politicians actually have reasoned arguments, people still choose a winner that justifies their own beliefs.
@poonshwaa What was the reasoned argument? The Constitution is very clear: The government can raise taxes and, we know that it has to be like that. If the Constitution won't say it, we have to amend it. Obviously MoRon Paul doesn't know the Constitution. If you want to live like a hunter or gatherer or like an 18th century farmer, please take MoRon Paul with you. I want to live in the 21st century and I don't want to hear anymore about this primitive politician.
@tr2006x While Paul's argument may be radical in comparison, it is not unreasonable. If I understand correctly, his view is that "general welfare" does not refer to every individual entirely, but instead to the welfare of the nation, such as his example of currency. It is understandable to read those words differently, and it shouldn't be considered ignorance to do so.
If the constitution were clear, we wouldn't have a branch of government dedicated to deciphering it.
He really obliterated Old Ron Paul...not. I like the petty attacks some of you make on how he stumbles on his words sometimes, doesn't make his answers any less valid. I don't know how you can say with a straight face that Ron Paul is ignorant of the Constitution, his interpretation may differ from yours. Its a joke that Wallace would hint that the semantics of the word 'welfare' are the same today as they were 200 years ago when they were penned in Article 1 section 8 of the Constitution.
Wow, poor description of the video. I agree with iHappyCamper. Ron Paul explained himself well, while often being interrupted by Wallace. Most importantly was the response to the last question. One guy claims himself to represent the Tea Party, a party that was never meant to be a "Party", but a movement. And as usual some power hungry group took charge of the movement and ruined it. Thanks for posting.
Chris Wallace is probably the most reporters on the network. Still, I don't see how anyone was blown anywhere. I think Rep. Paul made a reasonable case about the danger of the slippery slope of interpreting "the common good" to mean giving the the government the approval to create any kind of program it sees fit. I think Wallace respects the argument. The evidence of history seems clear that you create all kinds of problems (moral, social, political) when the government over reaches.
You missed the part where common sense and American liberty co-varies with Paul. 7:10-8:35 DerrDerr. I may disagree with Paul's next thirty 30 seconds afterwards, but do your research son.
“ If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” - Samuel Adams
the negative comments about this video , i dont think even watched the video. this is an anti-ron paul video but i still hear all the answers i want to hear
@opieie, ummm Obama don't pass laws on his own, republicans control the House, so if you think America is shit, look at both republicans and democrats. Obama didn't deregulate banks(Bill Clinton did), Obama didn't go into Iraq(George Bush did) and even while republicans want to go into Syria and Iran, Obama will not go along with that. Is Obama perfect? Fuck no, he wrongly kept the Patriot act, left gitmo open, kept the foolish bush tax cuts, but he is no worse than romney would be, or gingrich
I do disagree with Ron to a point. I feel that part of the government's job is to take care of things that aren't our fault. Tornadoes, floods, etc. That is why we have a government-to protect us from those things we are powerless to protect ourselves from.
However, after those things, the government should stay out of our business. Medicare, SSI, etc are all unnecessary.
@jgilgorri The government should be involved in assisting saving peoples lives in extreme situations as needed but not giving them grants for housing and other benefits. That should be handled by insurance and local programs to assist. IMO and Ron's from what ive seen. If not you end up with the government moving around other peoples money and promoting the belief that the government will save your ass rather than insure yourself properly or you will pay the price.
@brockallentaylor That's what I mean. Maybe I misunderstood Paul's statement. Mind you, I'm an adamant supporter. I just thought he mean that the government should not have helped at all. I think they should help with rescue and such (though, now thinking about it, that is why we have a national guard for every state). I feel that they should help, if only with loans, to rebuild infrastructure. Obviously, if the state can handle it, it should.
@jgilgorri You are missing the point. Paul is against federal government emergency services. States can do it. Also what you can do for yourself is not the same as someone else. Government's job is not to do for us what we cant do for ourselves. Because then we get here and government does everything for a zombie population. Also how can government PROTECT you from natural disasters? Can the feds stop hurricanes?
@Jononutoob You're right. I forgot to consider that states have a national guard. After Katrina, NJ sent ours down to help. So the fed doesn't really have to.
What I meant was, if a state can't take care of some huge disaster (whether or not Katrina qualifies, idk), it should at least be able to count on the fed to help rebuild necessary infrastructure AS A LAST RESORT. So, the floodgates that need to be repaired right away? Fed fixes them IF THE STATE DEFINITELY CAN NOT AFFORD TO.
@jgilgorri Well history shows that if you give the feds a lil power, they will want more. Plus it costs an arm and leg. The federal government should just focus on the currency, national security, and protection of our rights.
@bobabihsot the problem with that reasoning is that SOPA and the NDAA are bills that are the exact opposite of what Ron Paul wants. Those bills expand the role and power of government, which is exactly the mindset that Congress has right now. Not many members of Congress are up to supporting Ron Paul's ideals of reducing the government. Eliminating a central bank, isolating the country, etc. are ideas that completely change the course that America will take and I doubt Congress will consider it.
@kqcrazii How is it considered isolationism? Other countries hate America. We are isolating ourselves by policing the world, bombing countries in the search for "terrorists" and occupying over 900 bases in over 130 countries. Nobody wants us there. We are making people hate us. Watch this if you will /watch?v=XKfuS6gfxPY
And how is changing the course of this country bad? Is it on the right course?
@eagle2284 Lol, you're construing negativity against Ron Paul's ideas when there isn't any. Honestly, if his agenda was practical, I would vote for him. I don't think change is bad. I also don't think all of the world's problems should be our problem. However, I'm looking at the practicality of the agenda. Congress won't even consider the elimination of several executive departments yet alone the Fed.
@eagle2284 Also, by my definition, withdrawing over 28,000 troops from a country all of a sudden, as in the case of South Korea, is considered isolating the country and leaving a huge gap in South Korean capability. Again, not overt negativity against the idea but it does fit isolation by my standard. Suddenly going from the world's superpower police force into not giving a fuck within a matter of years is definitely abandoning a country and isolating us from them.
How the hell is Ron Paul going to eliminate the Departments of Commerce, Education, Energy, & HUD? He likes to flaunt that little piece of his agenda but I don't get how Congress would ever approve any sort of legislation that would do just that. It's already a squeeze to elect him to president, but to get Congress to actually approve his agenda? It's impossible. Ron Paul is a nice protest candidate but can't be a serious one.
To think that FOX NEWS shows that healtcare maybe even universal FREE healthcare could be justified in the US is shocking not to say the least. AND to actually really see Ron Paul drop the ball a little on this one. ALL OF THIS: ASTOUNDING
I'm surprised Wallace pursued the Constitutional issues as far as he did. Maybe he could have grilled Paul about Alexander Hamilton's position on the general welfare clause, or the McCullough vs. Maryland decision to get at the original intent of the Constitution. It's easy to expose RP from a "Hamiltonian" perspective, but he is never subjected to honest debate on Constitutional and economic issues because so few Hamiltonians (Americans) are allowed on the airwaves.
@deadeyedick1933 You have a good point, the original intent is an interesting topic for historians, but that's it. We live 200 years later in a society that changed fundamentally. Consequently, the Constitution needs to be changed in order to serve the people who live today. The right to bear arms? This is one of the most anachronistic, ridiculous and deadly principle in the Constitution of a modern democracy. Must be repealed immediately.
@tr2006x The Constitution still holds up after 200 years. That's why it was written in generalities, subject to amendment, with particulars left to change with the times. I don't agree with you on repealing the 2nd amendment, but that's what the political process is for.
Chris Wallace is too smart for him. The confused old fool Ron Paul is all over the place, I don't think he even understands the questions. He has no philosophy, he is a chimp who heard different things he can't understand, Constitution for example. It's painful to watch, but the truth is not about pain avoidance.
@SchittReport Without resorting to name-calling or other distracting devices, would you be able to articulate what exactly it is that made you feel Dr. Paul did not succeed in showing his knowledge of the Constitution?
I believe the "armed and prepared" news anchor did not "obliterate" Dr.Paul in the least bit. He created an avenue for Dr.Paul to explain to everyone what the Constitution actually means and how the associated issues mentioned are not being handled appropriately.
@SchittReport Without resorting to name-calling or other distracting devices, would you be able to articulate what exactly it is that made you feel Dr. Paul did not succeed in showing his knowledge of the Constitution?

@SchittReport Can you answer ihappycamper's question please? It's been my expereince that people who disapprove of Ron Paul can only come back with name calling and weak arguements. I'm hoping that's not the case with you. In all seriousness please explain your case because I didn't see anyone get "Blown out".
@tr2006x I think you watched the wrong video. I believe Ron held his own. The current status of our economy is in the shitter because of some bad Amendments to our Constitution. We need to take a few steps back in order to move forward. The Federal Government is writing checks that our childrens children might be able to pay. Think about it, when to our freedoms become more vulnerable? In the midst of chaos, my friend. Patriot Act, NDAA, etc. Time to wake up!! Ron Paul 2012!
@tr2006x Question for you. We know RP is not going to win, so who would you like to see get the GOP nomination? Your choice if you wanna answer this question or not. I'm just curious.
@theman4130 Honest question, honest answer. I think Gingrich is the smartest (average smart), Romney is more realistic. None of them deserves the honor to lead and represent USA. The worst band of candidates that I've seen in my life.
@tr2006x I don't accept that as a fact. I take that as a construction of a film and media editing. I think that that would be a brash assumption. I think he knows the Constitution as well or better (probably the latter) than any GOP or Democratic contender for the Presidency.
@Naterade1123 What is wrong with you? RP doesn't even know art 1 sec 8 of the Constitution he's parading any time he can, you can see that in the interview. He is like a deer in the headlights!
you are a fucking sheep. none of this proves that he doesnt know the constitution. totally biased.fucking troll. look up how money works, thats what really fuckin matters. the fdic prints it to pay debts. however there is nothing to back it besides people willingness to give it value by continually selling their labor for cheap, therefore leaving massive profits for the board members of these big corporations. there are corporations in the u.s. with more money than entire nations!
@soccrplaya10 Watch the video, he is clueless. Alzheimer? I have all the compassion for him, but... is he qualified to be president? Or senator? Or to drive?
@Naterade1123 BTW, I'd like to answer to the "12 term Consgressman chimp": He was elected in a district where he delivered half of the babies, while the other half was delivered by his partner. Got that from an article and explains very well the mystery.
@tr2006x How does that discredit his knowledge of the Constitution or his credentials? Lots of Congressmen come from small districts. If anything that further qualifies him as he would have to be most receptive and in tune with his constituency. That is a bit of an ad hominem argument don't you think? Not to mention a bit off topic?
I'll tell you something else about Jew haters like RP. They always imagine, they could build economies like Jews have done from very beginning of this country, but there isn't a fucking one of them who ever have. The japs have came the closest. It's easy to sit back and point the finger at a mistake caused by house democrats and bill clinton, for telling banks to loan money to 500ish credit rating, non-saving motherfuckers, unless they wanted to be called racist and mean.
@FlauntussFloyd Never knew there was a mass jew hating going on... i would figure its a bad idea to hate jews... few of them own most of america.... lol
@slewofdamascus Oh yes, you've got the inside skinny on the C I A (hollow echo sound, whew). Blend that in with all the other C I A theories I've heard and read on the internet, and you've got a bunch of kooky shit cumin out of your mouth, without an ounce of proof. ____ I know he's right about alot of stuff (that a President can't fix), but he's an idiot when it comes to muslims. We didn't pick this fight, he's full of shit about that, and that's enough for me to vote for someone else.
@FlauntussFloyd so obviously you never researched the history of the events leading up to the "fight" as you put it. Nor do you know the extent that USA had stuck their nose in other peoples business. I guess the current economy is also someone elses fault. Where did you learn your position may i ask, who told you?
@FlauntussFloyd Al-Qaeda and bin Laden cited U.S. support of Israel, the presence of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia, and sanctions against Iraq as motives for the attacks but somehow when Paul brings this to peoples attention, he gets boos and you also think that is enough to " vote for someone else". Now if it was Bin laden, take a look and see if the USA knew who he was before the attacks. If the fight wasnt picked" it sure was ignorance that let it occur. That was their weapons, all they had...
@9:00 is the 'kook factor' that will keep me from voting for RP, and that's sad, because I agree with Him on other things. Then he starts blaming us for causing civil war in pakistan, by killing osama; when if he kept his promise to get rid of foreign aid, pakistan would explode into utter caos. I think that promise is like all the other libertarian promises he's made. He's promising things that he knows congress won't allow him to keep.
@FlauntussFloyd the cia is knee deep in shit over the current state of affairs in Pakistann, Libya, Syria, Egypt, etc. and so on. And you - like too many "citizens" - are in complete and total denial. Ron Paul has been right about nearly everything, having pointed out the housing bubble years before it collapsed, the federal reserve's endless printing of money which makes us all poorer by the minute, and our unconstitutional foreign policy, blowback from which he predicted as far back as 1998.
@2:45 I've always been against bailing out coastal people. When the weather is good, coastal people stuff tons of money in their ass pocket. Sell the damn beach front land if you haven't bank-rolled enough money to rebuild during the money making years.
In Federalist No. 41 (the Federalist Papers were a series of newspaper articles meant to sell the Constitution to Americans) Madison answers critics' claims that the Constitution was vague and gave to much power to the new federal government: "For what purpose could the enumeration of particular powers be inserted, if these and all others were meant to be included in the preceding general power?" (welfare clause) If Chris Wallace is right, then the federal government has absolute power over us.
Would you please post the video that shows Chris Wallace Blows Ron Paul Out Of The Water Over His Ignorance About The Constitution because it was obviously not this one!
The media just hates Ron Paul because he doesn't meet the status quo, and the status quo is what is eliminating the middle class and keeping the rich (politicians usually) richer. It's all to protect the balance of power; look at how elections are run for instance. "Republocrats" don't stand for what they once did years ago. I will not say, like some others would, that Ron Paul is a guarantee to restore our nation, but I will assure everyone I know that he is our best chance. Please let him try.
@glajl vote for ron paul if you dont want: FEMA, Social Security, Pell Grant loans for Students, better Transportation(eg. subways systems/trains like in europe) NIH/NCI and cures for cancers, end NASA, end Clean Water/Air/Environmental Agency, end National Parks, Museums, OSHA, minimum wage, child labor laws, civil rights, and while you are at it, state rights for sex slavery/child labo r , and get rid of anti trust laws
States will be able to control themselves. Just because something is legal doesn't mean people will vote for it. If a bill was proposed for your state to allow prostitution, child labor, to end Clean Water/Air/Environmental Agency, National Parks, Museums, OSHA, minimum wage, and to allow sex slavery, would you vote YES? States should govern themselves. If you think you wouldn't know right from wrong if it weren't for the government, then you are truly incompetent.
that is the point. Many in certain states(red ones for example) that have incompetent people that indeed, do not know "right from wrong". Case in point in the 60s when most people in southern states (eg. Arkansas, Mississippi) did not think it wrong to exclude blacks from voting, from going to public Universities, from patronizing certain bathrooms, and swimming pools, or from drinkinking fountains.
(cont.)..In its simplest form, Social Security relies on the younger citizens to pay for the retirement of older citizens, with the understanding that populations increase so there should always be enough money coming in to fulfill the obligations to the elderly who paid into it. Since this is the case, why is there no money left in Social Security?...because our government spent it!
Blowing Ron Paul out of the water is one persons view of it. My view is that while the Constitution has been MODIFIED to allow the government to turn the US into a country on welfare and others, this is still something that needs to be done away with. The government should NOT be responsible for things like welfare and medicaid and other programs. The government is here to protect our liberties and ability to pursue happiness.
I love what Paul said about treating drug addictions as medical issues instead of filling our prisons. Prison doesn't treat drug addiction. Ron Paul has a really solid grip on what TRUE undefiled freedom within the boundaries of the values of Life and Liberty looks like and its innumerable benefits. So many people are too scared of his philosophies (the founding fathers philosophies) to see the detrimental effect on our liberty this dependency on an unconstitutional, socialist government has.
@jes1able Agreed... they seem the same but are only related if you are of the opinion that our current social welfare program is in the best interests of this country's general welfare. It seems that he is trying to fool his less-capable viewers. If this is Mr. Wallace's idea of clever reporting, then I wonder how he was hired by any nationally televised station... or how does he, or the station, retain any credibility.
Seems like it was the other way around, and for the people that did not understand the definition welfare, well listen to Ron Paul till you figure it out. Otherwise become a historian like I am and exclude its present day meaning.
Traditionally, he's closer to what a Republican is supposed to be. Small government, stay out of other nation's business etc. That party has been corrupted just like the Democrats. In fact, I don't even like distinguishing between the two. It's best to call them the republicrats. Emphasis on RAT as they're prostitician scum.
I've failed to find the part at which Ron Paul was blown out of the water. It didn't seem to me like either had a huge upper hand on the other. In all honesty, I would give it to Ron Paul, had it not been for Section 8, which I find myself not so sure if I agree with him (Ron Paul) on, although, I do understand his position.
Objectively, I don't see Chris Wallace blowing Ron Paul out of the water. I don't agree with Ron Paul on several issues especially those dealing with Social Security because I do believe it falls in line with the general welfare clause of the constitution. I agree with him in regard to flood insurance and especially agree with his general stand on foreign policy. But, regardless of whether I agreed with him or not, he acquitted himself well against an interviewer who was very well prepared.
How did Chris Wallace blow Ron Paul out of the water?
Ron Paul is very knowledgeable of The Constitution, and right also on the issue of Freedom and Limited Government.
You can not have both Freedom and Paternalism.
To many people associate Freedom, with the ability to work for someone, perpetually mortgage a home, finance a automobile, charge a credit card, smoke, drink, use drugs, have sex with whoever, whenever, and watch t.v. Because as they put it; "These are Our Rights".

Lets be clear on that since you are studying philosophy and are use to word perfect arguments. I saw that video all the way through to be fair but I already have an intimate understanding of Ron Paul's positions.
MrConservative608 1 week ago
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 2) #1. Ron Paul is not a conservative as defined by conservatives. He is a libertarian that has some conservative beliefs. I believe that Ron Paul would have called Ronald Reagan a neo-con, which would mean a RINO because of his foreign policy and growing the federal budget in the cold war, despite Ronald Reagan's vigorous positions about eliminating the Department of Education and cutting federal spending. Reagan had a Democrat congress that prevented that.
MrConservative608 1 week ago
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 3) #2. Ron Paul & libertarians that don't have confidence in the paper U.S. Dollar and say that it is not backed by anything do not have a good understanding of macro-economics. Inflation in times of economic growth (please note "in times of economic growth" because a lot of Ron Paul supporters don't hear that when I say it) prevents deflation. Deflation is what caused the bank failures which caused the Great Depression, not the stock market crash of 1929.
MrConservative608 1 week ago
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 4) That last fact is documented in Milton Friedman's "Free to Choose: Anatomy of a Crisis" documentary. Even though Milton Friedman believed that a fiat currency had to be backed by gold, what I believe he didn't realize is that the production of new products & services (i.e. wealth creation) can back a fiat currency.
MrConservative608 1 week ago
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 5) #3. I believe Ron Paul's & libertarians' view on war is not an intellectually honest assessment of threats but a fiscally driven crusade to balance the federal budget. Outside of our civilized country, in the third world, it is a mistake to assume that people need a rational reason to hate. Another reason why they are wrong is that it fails to put all world history into perspective.
MrConservative608 1 week ago
@TheCreatorOf4 (Part 6) What I mean by "it fails to put all world history into perspective" is that for all of human history on this planet, a handful of nations with in the past two and a half centuries out of thousands of years have figured out a way out of back braking labor in the fields & into a standard of living that is envious to the rest of the world. Do they want capitalism so they can be like us? No. Instead, like a dumb bully, they want to destroy it.
MrConservative608 1 week ago
@MrConservative608 I am not interested in getting into a political "argument" with you, but I'm sure someone will appreciate what you have written so they may apply their own critical thought.

@TheCreatorOf4 As a philosophy student, I would have thought that the technology of the Internet is the ideal spot for philosophical debate among people of various backgrounds as long as it is civilized. I am someone with a degree in a technological field involving electronics/computers and have hoped that the creation of the Internet would be a great step forward for lots of people to research legitimate sources of information & share ideas.

MoRon Paul got a full 7% in Florida! These are the facts!
P.S. I am unhappy with Chris Wallace, because he was merciless with an old helpless weak man.
tr2006x 1 month ago
@tr2006x Yes, he lost Florida unfortunately. So here's the thing. I watched this entire interview carefully. This was actually a really good interview between the both of them, I learned a lot in fact. I don't see anyone getting "blown out the water", embarrassed, humiliated, etc. If not I myself saw a great wealth of knowledge being put fourth. So, the title of this video is in fact misleading.
theman4130 4 weeks ago
@DeathMetalPatriot OK, forget that Wallace is much smarter than him, that is not important now. What do you think about Ron Paul's ignorance regarding the Constitution?
P.S. You must watch the movie! serious!
tr2006x 1 month ago
@tr2006x Ignorance is not what you saw there. You saw the views Wallace has, and I assume you have, of interpreting the constitution, conflicting with the views of Paul.
I think its very interesting that when politicians actually have reasoned arguments, people still choose a winner that justifies their own beliefs.
poonshwaa 1 month ago
@poonshwaa What was the reasoned argument? The Constitution is very clear: The government can raise taxes and, we know that it has to be like that. If the Constitution won't say it, we have to amend it. Obviously MoRon Paul doesn't know the Constitution. If you want to live like a hunter or gatherer or like an 18th century farmer, please take MoRon Paul with you. I want to live in the 21st century and I don't want to hear anymore about this primitive politician.
MoRon Paul 2012!
tr2006x 1 month ago
@tr2006x He isn't against all taxes. He is in favor of the excise tax, and to cut spending to meet revenue.
rzxwm10 1 month ago
@tr2006x While Paul's argument may be radical in comparison, it is not unreasonable. If I understand correctly, his view is that "general welfare" does not refer to every individual entirely, but instead to the welfare of the nation, such as his example of currency. It is understandable to read those words differently, and it shouldn't be considered ignorance to do so.
If the constitution were clear, we wouldn't have a branch of government dedicated to deciphering it.
How is he primitive?
poonshwaa 1 month ago

MrDust1981 1 month ago
I do disagree with Ron to a point. I feel that part of the government's job is to take care of things that aren't our fault. Tornadoes, floods, etc. That is why we have a government-to protect us from those things we are powerless to protect ourselves from.
However, after those things, the government should stay out of our business. Medicare, SSI, etc are all unnecessary.
jgilgorri 1 month ago
@jgilgorri The government should be involved in assisting saving peoples lives in extreme situations as needed but not giving them grants for housing and other benefits. That should be handled by insurance and local programs to assist. IMO and Ron's from what ive seen. If not you end up with the government moving around other peoples money and promoting the belief that the government will save your ass rather than insure yourself properly or you will pay the price.
brockallentaylor 1 month ago
@brockallentaylor That's what I mean. Maybe I misunderstood Paul's statement. Mind you, I'm an adamant supporter. I just thought he mean that the government should not have helped at all. I think they should help with rescue and such (though, now thinking about it, that is why we have a national guard for every state). I feel that they should help, if only with loans, to rebuild infrastructure. Obviously, if the state can handle it, it should.
As for housing grants? No way lol
jgilgorri 1 month ago
@jgilgorri You are missing the point. Paul is against federal government emergency services. States can do it. Also what you can do for yourself is not the same as someone else. Government's job is not to do for us what we cant do for ourselves. Because then we get here and government does everything for a zombie population. Also how can government PROTECT you from natural disasters? Can the feds stop hurricanes?
Jononutoob 1 month ago
@Jononutoob You're right. I forgot to consider that states have a national guard. After Katrina, NJ sent ours down to help. So the fed doesn't really have to.
What I meant was, if a state can't take care of some huge disaster (whether or not Katrina qualifies, idk), it should at least be able to count on the fed to help rebuild necessary infrastructure AS A LAST RESORT. So, the floodgates that need to be repaired right away? Fed fixes them IF THE STATE DEFINITELY CAN NOT AFFORD TO.
jgilgorri 1 month ago
@jgilgorri Well history shows that if you give the feds a lil power, they will want more. Plus it costs an arm and leg. The federal government should just focus on the currency, national security, and protection of our rights.

@lifesavrs if only more people would see his views. were doomed ! =/
bobabihsot 1 month ago
@bobabihsot the problem with that reasoning is that SOPA and the NDAA are bills that are the exact opposite of what Ron Paul wants. Those bills expand the role and power of government, which is exactly the mindset that Congress has right now. Not many members of Congress are up to supporting Ron Paul's ideals of reducing the government. Eliminating a central bank, isolating the country, etc. are ideas that completely change the course that America will take and I doubt Congress will consider it.
kqcrazii 1 month ago
@kqcrazii How is it considered isolationism? Other countries hate America. We are isolating ourselves by policing the world, bombing countries in the search for "terrorists" and occupying over 900 bases in over 130 countries. Nobody wants us there. We are making people hate us. Watch this if you will /watch?v=XKfuS6gfxPY
And how is changing the course of this country bad? Is it on the right course?
eagle2284 1 month ago
@eagle2284 Lol, you're construing negativity against Ron Paul's ideas when there isn't any. Honestly, if his agenda was practical, I would vote for him. I don't think change is bad. I also don't think all of the world's problems should be our problem. However, I'm looking at the practicality of the agenda. Congress won't even consider the elimination of several executive departments yet alone the Fed.
kqcrazii 1 month ago
@eagle2284 Also, by my definition, withdrawing over 28,000 troops from a country all of a sudden, as in the case of South Korea, is considered isolating the country and leaving a huge gap in South Korean capability. Again, not overt negativity against the idea but it does fit isolation by my standard. Suddenly going from the world's superpower police force into not giving a fuck within a matter of years is definitely abandoning a country and isolating us from them.
kqcrazii 1 month ago
How the hell is Ron Paul going to eliminate the Departments of Commerce, Education, Energy, & HUD? He likes to flaunt that little piece of his agenda but I don't get how Congress would ever approve any sort of legislation that would do just that. It's already a squeeze to elect him to president, but to get Congress to actually approve his agenda? It's impossible. Ron Paul is a nice protest candidate but can't be a serious one.

I'm surprised Wallace pursued the Constitutional issues as far as he did. Maybe he could have grilled Paul about Alexander Hamilton's position on the general welfare clause, or the McCullough vs. Maryland decision to get at the original intent of the Constitution. It's easy to expose RP from a "Hamiltonian" perspective, but he is never subjected to honest debate on Constitutional and economic issues because so few Hamiltonians (Americans) are allowed on the airwaves.
deadeyedick1933 1 month ago
@deadeyedick1933 You have a good point, the original intent is an interesting topic for historians, but that's it. We live 200 years later in a society that changed fundamentally. Consequently, the Constitution needs to be changed in order to serve the people who live today. The right to bear arms? This is one of the most anachronistic, ridiculous and deadly principle in the Constitution of a modern democracy. Must be repealed immediately.
tr2006x 1 month ago
@tr2006x The Constitution still holds up after 200 years. That's why it was written in generalities, subject to amendment, with particulars left to change with the times. I don't agree with you on repealing the 2nd amendment, but that's what the political process is for.

@BigKahunaz888
If you think you wouldn't know right from wrong if it weren't for the government, then you are truly incompetent.
voidshadow 1 month ago
that is the point.

I'm confused. It doesn't seem as though anyone was blown out of the water.

general welfare wasnt referring to the social program of welfare
jes1able 1 month ago
@jes1able Agreed... they seem the same but are only related if you are of the opinion that our current social welfare program is in the best interests of this country's general welfare. It seems that he is trying to fool his less-capable viewers. If this is Mr. Wallace's idea of clever reporting, then I wonder how he was hired by any nationally televised station... or how does he, or the station, retain any credibility.

Seems like it was the other way around, and for the people that did not understand the definition welfare, well listen to Ron Paul till you figure it out. Otherwise become a historian like I am and exclude its present day meaning.

I don't get how this guy is a republican? His views are so different than either party.

@extereo

They are Slaves.
