u need to use a tool to do it, right click over the rectangle tool thingy and then select single column marquee tool. hope that helps

Actually never mind I found out how to. You go to the rectangular marquee tool and draw a line down a certain area of the render. Then you press CRTL+T and drag it :P

a one pixel wide selection with the 'single column marquee tool', get that selection on a new layer, press ctrl + t and stretch it xD
