  • This has got to be my favorite Jason Robert Brown song-I cry every time!

    Great job!

  • she is asking for the laughs too much. You don't have to force them, they come with the lyrics.

  • I'm putting this show on, I just hope i can find a singer half as good as you :) :) :)

  • yes, there are only 4 people

  • this cast consists of 4 correct?

  • still think the acting is lacking, but the voice is incredible. Watch repeatable gestures

  • She really doesnt blend and flow the words .She put emphasizes on certain words its annoying . And she holds out I !! ive heard this better

  • My show choir did this song my junior year; it was a different arrangement, though.

  • I did this song in my voice lessons last semester.

  • This is my favorite song in this show! Ashley, you did a mind blowing job with it! Awesome presentation! Way to get the audience to feel the song, not just listne to it! Brava! Brava!

  • amazing instrument and acting. u need to work on ur motions and gestures a bit, but ur well on ur way to stardom. i had a choir concert at my highschool abt a wk ago, and i performed this piece and literally brought my directiors (not to mention my parents and the audience) to tears.

this is a fabulous piece, telling a wonderful story. i portrayed it to be a little more dramatic, but everyone has theyre own take on things. wonderful job, keepw working and growing.

    -K

  • you really think a lot of yourself, don't you?

  • lol yeah, stuck up much??

  • to tears?? wow, I understand a standing ovation for a good performance, but this song is not sad enough to make them cry for, regardless of how much drama you put into your acting.

  • I've seen one performance that was so moving it brought me to tears. It really DOES depend on how your sing it and the hand motions. There are a lot of stylistic choices to make if you want to make people cry with this song. But it definitely has the potential.

  • again, very nice work. you've got a lot to learn, and you're doing really well for where you are now. can't wait to hear you in a few years.

  • I don't really think the character looks mad when the guy asks her to "spare a week to ride with him..." I mean she drops her voice because that's how it goes, but she's smiling...2:41 if you'd like to check it out again...

  • this is my favourite video on youtube.

  • Definitely one of my favorite songs to play, along with I'm Not Afraid.

  • Her voice was so good ! The girl in the beginning was good too, and I liked how when she walked off and the next person walked off the glanced at eachother. I don't know, hah, I just really liked it. Just like everything else in this. =]

  • The pianist in this show is amazing!

  • I thought this was wonderful! You didn't over sing it, and you have very nice expression.

  • You intellectual understanding of what you are singing is very good, but even in musical theatre sometimes less is more. You need to keep it simple so you can focusing on conveying the message with the words. With regards to the breathing, if you do do less then it will help because your energy with be more focused towards keeping your support engaged. As a singer it is always your responsibility to keep in control of your instrument regardless of what your character is doing.

  • "Intellectual understanding?" Talk of complexity? Hey man, it's just singing.

  • No, it's theater.

  • SHE sounds like a little girl trying to sing a big girl song

  • I thought she portrayed the character very well. Straight back, proffesional posture; it all made her seem very adult-like and knowledgable.

  • pretty good acting...seems like she got all objectives pretty planned out though, and it looks a little un-natural...and the vowels were awful..keeping your ombisure is very important, even when singing this type of music, without it you get a little pitchy...overall pretty good tho i guess

  • in my opinion she sings this very nicely! a very difficult song to maintain vocally and there are a few slip-ups but they are well covered and not too noticeable. I think the acting needs work though! performance was certainly enthusiastic but way too over the top when it needent be. It's musical theatre but the song alone tells a beautiful story and any large gestures tend to draw attention away from the lyrics and what should be mostly conveyed by expression. *less hands*

  • I love it!

  • Her rhythm's kinda funky. She said PLUT. But her acting's good. I like your voice too. :) But you kinda look scripted. Relax. :)

  • this is pretty good.

the girl in the beginnig is like

woll coll like her vowels are weird

  • I can't understand what she's saying.

  • i'm not sure on how to react with regards to her voice, but i think she gave her best on this one...

  • For starters, she needs to breathe properly... Well, or even breathe at all. I liked the acting however.

  • hmm...not my favorite performance of this song, but she's young

  • She definitely doesn't have the best range for this song, but she wasn't horrible.

  • she breaks between every other word.. it's weird. she did pretty well acting it though

  • amazing

  • which high school did this?

  • I think it's spelled Agoura, it's on their clip from the opening song.
