Socialized medicine would be a disaster for this country. It never works anywhere it's tried, so why should we try it here?  The US has the best treatment system in the world! We have, by far, the greatest variety of prescription drugs. The solution is to deregulate and give consumers back their choice and power in the market. THAT'S why healthcare has become so expensive and out-of-reach. It isn't because "greedy" health insurers are screwing everyone over. Gov't has distorted the market.

America is the greatest place to in the world to fall ill, if you have money. Socialized healthcare has worked in Canada, it of course has its problems (every system does) but here every citizen is treated to excellent care no matter what your financial status may be. I won't insult your intelligence by saying there are no line ups for treatment. it comes down to this: Would you rather wait for excellent care that is free, or be fast-tracked to care you won't get because you can't afford it?

I am currently pending SSI. I was making over $30,000/year. A single mother who use to have med. insurance. Not now, and no medical treatments from a primary care. This is due to the facts that I am not an alien. My daughter who is 19 making $9.11/hr is supporting me. If she were not here, I would be on the streets asking for handouts. There is not enough reserves for all of that are disabled/sic, or whatever.. we have allowed the aliens to rape our system!!!

I live in Austin Texas, the illegals here get anything they desire..something bush allows... i finally got my disability, and medicare and am now seeking treatments. I have cancer and I was denied healthcare because I do not have a spanish last name, that is a fact.. I went 9mths without any healthcare.. and there will be lawsuits against hospitals that denied me.. now that I have documents backing me up.

The solution to the part about illegal immigrants getting health care and the citizens not being able to afford is 1) get ALL the aliens out, and 2) lower costs, but don't make it free, if it's free, who pays for it? and the quality would not be the same if it was individual insurance.
