It was never "officially" announced, but unfortunately it does look like it - they last played in 2006, and they broke-up during the tour.
They were out on the road touring the Hardest Walk album, which you should go and buy if you haven't already done so, it is fantastic. Then get the back catalogue, as they are all great records and well worth the $.
Seeing them live was the ultimate though, they were such a tight group. Many happy nights were had whenever the Soledads were in town.
It really is a shame that they split, but we can always hope for something good to come from it- check Mr. David Viner's stuff, myspace(.)com/mrdavidviner he has a band with Ben on drums. Johnny is still doing some stuff, but I've yet to hear any of the new tracks. And Oliver (Brian) had a 7" out on fitzrovian phonographic, which you may be able to get from these nice people- normanrecords(.)com/records/90943
So to recap, yea - they've split and we miss them all a great deal.
More than a hint of The Stones...Soul Survivor...It Must Be Hell...Jumping Jack Flash, Happy, Little T&A...they are all well represented.
