@barnsey85 Hey now! He is not deserving of an insult as awesome as that. You're wasting energy typing all that. Just limit it to POS or something short like that.
So movingly beautiful and very sad. I hope that all of our fallen heroes from whatever conflict, are now resting in peace. Bless you all for serving our country and paying the highest price.
In my opinion, even when all the veterans from both World Wars are gone, this will still be an important day that should be observed in order to pay respects and honour those who fought for our us. I'm 20 and currently serving in the British Army and it seems to me that this day is becoming more important to the younger generation, I'm proud to take part in this day every year.
This is what I have been searching for, a Remembrance Day that will be in my heart as long as I live. I would like to thank you for this, as I live in Australia and would not have missed this for the world. It means so much. To be part of this so many miles from home. Means so much.
A time to remember what special, special people we have in the British Armed Forces. My sincerest respect and gratitiude go out to you all. Thankyou so much.
I pay my respects to soliders from the UK but also other allied soldiers who fought in Burma/North Africa who are never given a mention. Primarily because most of the young men (and women) that fought were volunteers and conscripts.
Today's army are sent to war to protect corporate interests which is sickening. I have nothing against those that serve but Rememberance Sunday should also give us a chance to publicly hang any politician caught lying to send us to nation to war.
Fucking nauseating to see that bastard Blair in the line up, and Cameron, for that matter. Is'nt it about time to give all this tripe a miss? After all, the old vetrans from WWI are all gone. The guys who went to Iraq and Afganistan are PAID volunteers. Not conscripts. They are SOLDIERS OF FORTUNE fighting in a war which Bush and Blair fucking started.
@02Blackbeard tripe? The WW1 veterans may have passed on but this is a very good reason to hold Remembrance Sunday. To remember not just the veterans who passed away but those who fought in WW1 and 2. I've been to Afghan and Iraq and yes I'm paid and a volunteer but it is still nice for those who have died and are over there fighting to be remembered by the country as a whole. We may be paid but we do not choose which wars/conflicts to fight. Volunteers like us also mean there is no conscription
@ravcuk I take your points, but I still feel that while WWI and WWII were wars fought in defence of the realm, the wars in which UK troops are now engaged are corporate greed wars. Oil and gas wars. Wars which OUR politicians have started. Backing Blair and Cameron is kind of like backing Hitler.
Even conscripts are free to refuse to fight under such circumstances.
@disamjisa - I really wouldn't bother wasting my time getting into an argument with 02Blackbeard, he's clearly a sad, ignorant moron. Let him have his pointless little rant and ignore him. Clowns like him thrive on the attention since their lives are so dull otherwise. He probably hasn't even lost his virginity yet.
@sueharristication Agreed, he seems like a serial pest. I'm surprised, though, that anyone would fail to be moved by Remembrance Sunday and the ceremony at the Cenotaph.
@1810Lee Hello lee thanks for the repsect it means alot !! And i hope i mean the same when i mention many serving personnel are proud to serve this country ! And i am one of them :)
