@callumjp3 You will be surprised how ' little ' I spent on them :) mainly because the models I picked are of small scale & mostly are dated or even vintage. The parts are most surpluses or from bargains and broken parts. The total cost of this Panzer-1 is roughly $ 38 canadian( Cd $ almost par to US).
@bobilla223@bobilla223 I was told that this light tank was designed in 1932. Though the concept of a medium tank was there, this machine was chosen due to 1) cheap & easily mass produced 2) badly needing training tanks for new tank tactics 3)Somewhat influenced by light tank heresy popular at that time 4) a stop gap temporary tank before a medium tank can be designed.
thats some amazing modeling skills... the panzer is under rated everybody knows tiger and king tiger but the panzer was the first to give us shock and awe
It is mainly plastic because it came from a plastic static model kit originally. Some metal parts have to be added for durability or functionality, e.g. the axles, springs, antenna etc.
AMAZING MAN AMAZING I BUILT A TANK AND HAVE ITS VIDEO UP ON FACEBOOK CHECK IT OUT IF YOU WANT BUT MINE IS NOT AS GOOD LOOKING AS YOURS BUT I THINK MORE POWERFULL :p:p
Melting the vinyl/rubber pins is the only sure way to secure the connection. The trick is to melt the 2 (or 4 pins) so that the resulting melted pins are flat like rivets. This came with practice. Even with lumpy melts, the tank will still run, but with a little extra bumpiness to remind you the lousy job :).
Every situation is different & I usually pick the easiest way out as long as it works. I forgot exactly how I did in this tiny one. However for the traditional way done universially by all RC converters is the use of piano wire 'torsion bars'. You can find some clues from my ' 1/35 Russian BMP3 RC conversion' video.

It is an old German song called Lilli Marlene, popular among both German & British soldiers during WW2.
ppplll000999 2 years ago
yea real shock and awe, obsolete by 1939... later converted to anti-tank, or munitions carriers, observation vehicles and ambulances etc.

Very nice. The job you've done on painting the tank's quite nice, to say nothing of the RC'ing job.
I liked the bit at the end where the Pz. I drives past all the other panzers and parks next to the Pz. II.

i must be an idiot because i just can't keep the rubber treads together for the life of me
they always come unglued and melting the ends together doesn't sound like a good idea
what did you do?
