Today this Hadith: Bukhari, volume 9, #57 does NOT carry any weight, since it is TOTALLY different nowadays, as compared to 1400 years ago.

The punishment for a person "leaving Islam" and that's it, in an Islamic country is: NOTHING. If a person wants to leave Islam and that's it, he is NOT allowed to be killed, because he/she is not trying to end Islam, as that apostate simply wants to leave Islam, and he/she has a FULL RIGHT in Islam to do so.
