  • kem concorda ai que elee o slash e osmelhores da guitarrra da joinha

  • seriously guys, get two delays and try it! it's not as hard as the sum of the parts sound! true if you make a mistake you will hear it three times, as brian does here at 2.40

  • VOX FTW!

  • This is my second favorite version of this solo - the best is LIve Killers IMHO.

  • shreds and is not the meaning of great. to be the greatest is not only speed but how you make great sounds of your guitar playing

  • Its beyond hard to do with two delays because one messed up note and you and everyone will hear it twice. You have to be very well hearsed in playing with two delays not to mention your timing has to be on the spot the whole time or else it sounds like a cassette being eaten alive. ROCK ON BRIAN MAY!!!!!!

  • @apollorocker Yes U are right. There are only a few guitar players I know which can use delays as perfect. Brian May ever did well. Nuno Bettencourt is another great guitar man who uses two delays and hitting every string at the spot of time. And this by playing fast as lightning. They are really amazing and I would be glad if I only had 10 percent of their talents

  • @wepo59 have you never heard of a guy called The Edge? played in a popular irish beat combo....arguably harder and more intricate use of delay. brian is jamming here. as long as you stay in time and key, you can play anything an it will harmonise

  • @mojoquilt Thx for your comment. I just visited your profile and saw your age. So I´m a bit older and sure I know The Edge/U2 and saw them first time live when you were about 10. If you read my comment right you will see I wrote there are only a few guitar players that play 2 delays perfect. I didnt list up The Edge but you are right he plays real amazing 2 delays too. And if you said - you have to stay in time and key. And thats the hard work on it. Not everybody can do this so excellent.

  • @wepo59 I can =)

  • just goes to show how speed is nothing without feel and soul

  • KING OF DELAYS!!!

  • If you listen carefully to this solo, and any of his other live solos, you can hear he isn't using one delay, he's using two. Allows him to do 3 part harmonies. Doing this isn't just hard, it's ROCKING HARD!

  • notice the wall of AC30's at 40sec.

  • This is one of the most spectacular pieces of guitar orchestration ever - this made me buy my first delay pedal as a kid - for anyone who was in the stadium to hear this - you were in the presence of a genius and one of those defining moments in electric guita history. Monumental!

  • It's not hard if you plat the right notes...thats the hard part...the delay takes care of itself.

  • This sounds nothing like his guitar playing, but I do love! Brian May can play anything.... except for the solo in Innuendo. He's still great!!

  • Brian May is very underrated! I love his sound and style.

  • @MGOTraitor Please Listen to the Solo from the Queen song 'I want It All' Also the solo from 'Good Company'. I have learned lots from Brian as well as learning lots from Steve vai, Paul Gilbert and Malmsteen

  • @MGOTraitor

    Your opinion is wrong.

  • amazing! respect ;)

  • hehe as soon as i got an my first echo pedal i used every scale i knew to do a song like this! its amazing! one of the most inspiring guitarists out there

  • So easy to get the ole delay wrong.....Just one Bum note and you have to hear it come back-and back-and back-and back......My hero!

  • Right!!! no one understands this, and with it being just a symphony of scales its amazing how good he is. He must just sit for hours.

  • Holy sound *.* Red special 4ever

  • Nice work Brian!

  • he has a wall of AC30 !!! I want that tooo !!!!!

  • shame he didnt have a wireless unit as that lead is causing him some real shite towards the end!....MAY IS GOD!

  • When u also play guitar,

damn u realize how freakin genious is this man rigth here!!

    Brian May!!!! :D

  • The Master of the "Guitar Orchestration" ! Brian May is a true Guitar God!

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN steve vay,jhon jonson. try

  • MAESTOSO

  • i kind of get where you are coming from here but brian may is a incredible musician and guitarist

  • Brian is an incredible guitar player wich inspired a lot of guitar players all over the world . There are not much guitar player who can reach him (slash , page , hendrix , van halen ... ) . I hope my english was not so bad , because i came from germany . :D

  • You are right !

  • Saying Brian May needs to play something different to show his worth to a guitarist, is like saying all EVH ever did was tapping, and all Jimmy Page ever did was play Stairway to Heaven. Brian is an incredibly talented musician, something you will NEVER be. Until you can learn how music works, how it's written, or how to play it, you won't ever understand where I'm coming from. So please refrain from bashing out of jealousy? Everyone wishes they could play like Brian May sometimes ;)

  • Dr. May is a wonderful musician and truly a class act as a person. The point made here I think is that this clip does not show Dr. May at his best when his tone and composition combined with improvisation could be breathtaking. It may be the venue -- one does a different show for 80,000 than for 20,000 than for 5,000. With all respect for Dr. May the artist and gentleman, there are better examples than this of his skill.

  • Queen were Freddie Mercury, John Deacon, Brian May, And Roger Taylor. They NEVER would've been as big as they were if it weren't for that group of guys. It's one thing to dislike a guitarist, but to go out of your way to insult him when you obviously know absolutely NOTHING of music, play an instrument yourself, or understand how music is written. If you listen to Queen, I dare you to listen to Killer Queen and not think Brian May's guitar is one of the many reasons that song is great...

  • But, it does however take an amazing guitarist to play the way Brian May does. He built his guitar (The Red Special) by himself, and has never used any other guitar. You listen to songs like Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Sheer Heart Attack, or any one of Queen's songs, and you'll see that they'd be lacking something very important. Queen were an amazing band NOT just because of Freddie. They were an amazing BAND, not an group of guys with a famous lead singer...

  • Hahah, master of what, huh? You don't seem to know what guitar playing is then. Brian May is actually one of the most flavorful guitarists alive (if you played an instrument, you'd probably know that. All I see on your page is a bunch of favorited videos of stupid bitches shaking their asses for the camera). Brian May has written more famous lead lines and solos than I think half of the guitarists alive. It doesn't take an amazing guitarist to write a really good solo...

  • Lol, just lol.

  • Cool stack of AC-30s

  • part 2.... watch?v=rEptNamLb78&feature=related

  • try this one... it's ONLY 19 years later... watch?v=2lT39vQZkbA&feature=related

  • The only other guitarist I ever seen use delays so well is Phil Keggy (SIC?). Both are masters!

  • Because you have to be dreaming to do so.

  • he has some chorus, has he???

  • He pretty much uses exclusively.

  • lol he has like 20 vox ac30s behind him

  • he only uses two of them lol

  • yeah probably. the rest are just there cuz hes brian may

  • GOD BLESS YOU BRIAN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Brian=beast! :D

  • amazing guitarrist!!

  • God guitar!!

  • The quality is terrible but it really doesnt matter. This guy is insane. He is incredible.

  • Well you sir are shit

  • He's such a boringly nice guy, how on earth can such a person play such kick ass guitar. Awesome.

  • he is without doubt one the greatest guitarists of all time , MUCH better than Angus young of AC/DC .......

  • Aw well you cant really compare, those lads have two different styles that suit they own bands, angus young being a pure blues guitarist, and brian may being a blues-influenced guitarist...

but both great guitar heroes !

  • You can compare. Based on technical ability alone(at least from what we've heard/seen), Brian's much better. But he's not one of the best technical players anyway.

  • Well angus can only play like original rock. Brian May really push guitarplaying to the limit! Hes Awesome!

  • That's one BIG stage!!

  • you rounded 4 minutes and 5 seconds up to 5 minutes:S

  • LMAO!!!!

  • lol

  • Brian May is not a shred but for me, this is probably the first one guitarist i heard and really appreciate !! After this, i heard songs from Joe Satriani, John Petrucci and also Paul gilbert but Brian May will stay the guitarist whom I respect most!!!!

  • Shredders sucks...

  • @6u1t4r3

why? he just plays average shite whilst using about 50 delay pedals.

  • @6u1t4r3 what about vai?? he excels petrucci :) but may is a legend :D

  • man look at that wall of vox's in the back...insane.

  • If you ever watched or heard Brian play Frère Jacques or 3 blind mice, you would never dispute him as one no the best guitarist in the world!

  • Somehow people associate how difficult something is with how good it sounds. When these two things are not linked at all. This sounds awesome.

  • do you know why brian may is the best? becuase hes not a monkey. monkey see monkey do. look at all the music out there today. just monkeys copying each other. look at all the musician classifieds..everyone wants to sound like someone else. brian may is no monkey.

  • 2:03 Holy shit, what tremendous delay! O_O This guy is just... he's, well... I can't find a word for his phenomenal talent... any help somebody?

  • there is no help.. his delays are just fabulous.. and a challenge to get it allright with the timing when you try it yourself!

  • Yes!!

  • he's just Brian May. enough said

  • he is the best guitar player ever. rock on

  • sometimes

when you lsitne to his earlier work

    you really

    do think

    omfg.. this guy

    ruins everyone

why do guitarists these day suck :(

  • They suck in comparison to the likes of Mr May because not only is he a great musician but also a highly intelligent mathematician/ physicist with a BA.......can you think of a modern day guitarist with the same attributes. Oh and I almost forgot.... I wonder anyone of them could figure out how to build their own guitar from scratch.

  • Dr. May, phD. :)

  • you couldn´t said that better my friend. you described my toughts in a couple of words

  • I like math and physics :D I study it right now and I play lots of guitar...

  • Andy Summers I believe has a BA in music. He's the guitarist from The Police. Although, I can't think of a lot of rock guitarists with a degree.

  • Brian May is the GREATEST. Don't know of any other rock guitarists with a PhD (Astrophysics), but Tom Schultz (Boston) earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from M.I.T. long before he formed Boston.

  • Brian May has PhD in astrophysics. So your commenting on this video didn't make much sense.

  • Haha. Wow 2 months ago. Yeah I know Brian May has a PhD and he's one of my favorite guitarists. I was probably replying to someone else about how there aren't many guitarists that I can think of that have a degree. Brian May, Tom Schultz, Andy Summers, ummmm...haha you see what I mean. That's why Brian is awesome.

  • Wow you responded fast! Haha, I expected it to be another two months XD

  • his dad helped him i tink

  • awesome awesome awesome

  • mi sueño es volver hacia años atràs y presenciar ese Gran Show !!!

Brian sos un Genio, la mejor guitarra del mundo !!!!

  • very cool! check us out!

  • Magnificent!!!!!!!

  • awesome!!!

  • awewsome!!!

  • Great spoof! LOL!

  • And what's your point now? Its easy to copy anything. To create those stuff takes a lot more. To pick out those tasteful scales and harmonies (not only here) is the real art. To me he is one of the greatest guitarist in the world.

  • I understand your point that the scales are simple to play but I think they are aimed to be simple. The trick is the timing and clever harmonies. Brian is able to create some kind of ambience in this Brighton rock. I own a KZ brian May guitar, several boosters and AC-30s. I tried this delay stuff many times and even implemented it in a song of my former band. I enjoyed to do that but I couldn't do this for 10 min. like Brian. People tend to go to the beer-booth then, hahaha!!

  • the hard part is MAKING the stuff, not playing it.

imean, its a pretty sweet solo for him to have made up.

  • And off the top of his head, in many instances, as well.

  • Sure, it's based on delays - but he is coordinating it so perfectly. That's where his talent is showcased.

  • Yeah but its got to be done piss perfect or it can sound like a right mess.

  • It kills me how they ripped Wembley stadium down...the new one just doesn't compare in terms of character and history, and it never will!

  • Hi BigSeanP Cheers for posting this. Like Slavemale2 I was there and they were awesome i could never get enough of Queen live shows. over the years I was lucky enough to see them 12 times (3 of those on the Magic tour - both nights at Wembley and Knebworth) I miss them so much and I can't believe its 22 years almost since this gig. Queen will rule forever. Hey Slavemale2 were you at the show when the InXS guitarist slipped and fell flat on his arse? I think it was the 1st night Fri 11th July

  • I saw them at Liveaid....they were pretty alright there, too. They wiped the floor with EVERYBODY else.

  • I envy you slavemale!! Why shouldnt we believe you - the electricity off the DVD is amazing.. to be there..... wow!!

  • I'm blushing now, ty for your positive comments. And as for how close I was to the action? I was right down the front, certaily well forward of the delay tower. Close enough to look up uin wonder as Freddie gave vent to his "day ooh's" in the same gig.

  • theres a fuckin 8 foot wall of AC30's!

  • You're probably all going to give me the thumbs down for this comment, especially seeing as I've no way I've proving this (I lost my ticket stub years ago). BUT I was actually at this gig in '86, & it was fantastic! Probably the best gig I've ever been too. Queen truly OWNED as a live band

  • awesome! how far away were you, there are hundreds of thousands of people.

  • Queen RULES!!!

  • christ, how many ac30's are in his backline!?!!

  • i saw him in new york back in 81 and he had 20 Vox cabinets behind him HE WAS TREMENDOUS!!!!!!!!!!

  • allthough he usualy uses either 9 or 12 AC30s

  • yes your right i think he only has a dozen that are on at any given time ...but i remeber it as it was last night i counted 20 cabinets i was close to the stage 8th row :)

  • yeh but im on about smaller venues and recording purposes, for bo rhap he used three

and guitar solo live in sheffield last year he had 9

  • the man is a TRUE GENIUS!!! I love him so he has influenced SO many people..even today you go to the local music store and there are guys in there "Trying" to copy his sound.i have ALOT of instruments at home but not a BM copy..there is a guy in Englang Guyton Guitars that make a VERY GOOD copy of his guitar but they are 3000 pounds thats 6000K US a bit much for me now..but someday:)

  • i have a burns model brian may and a digitech brian may pedal and it works for me

  • In "smaller" places, arenas he uses 9 AC30s, in huge stadiums 12, extra huge staduims, just like the old Wembley 15, if I'm right. 20 can not be a correct number, because he always use 3 rows of amps, and 20 is not divisible with 3. The most I have seen from him is 15 amps. Usually only one row of the three used to work.

  • ROCK ON!!!

  • u can definately hear the AC30 sound on this

    Brill Job Bri :)

  • Best guitarist I have ever seen!

  • Oh yes. There's a reason guys like Van Halen, Vai, Satriani and Bettencourt hang out with him whenever they get the chance. Brian can arguably be cited as the source of much of what has happened in rock guitar tone and technique decades after Queen's debut. Master is an understatement!

  • This man is truly something to behold.

As a guitar player myself, it's much easier to appreciate what a great player he is.

  • My faith in people is restored when I hear how much the master is appreciated. Thanks for all your comments - I'll get the next part up then..!

  • can you let me know when you put up the second part - I want to add it to my fav's in here to go with this one.

    Thanks

  • Oh thank goodness this is up and called what it is - Was just checking out cover band attempts on Bri's solo - what a diff when you hear the real thing - thanks music to my ears. No one does it better than the master himself.

  • wkd video

  • vote brian may on votenumber1

  • did you guys know he used a coin instead of of a pick?

  • Yup, he uses a coin ( 5 Pence I thought). He slizes of te edges, so it will not damage the snares to much ^^

I use it to, And I can recommend it to you, of you want his kind of sound ^^

  • Sixpence

  • and I don't think he "slizes" of the edges to. He actually uses them for some effects when he plays...

  • Brian is the best...Malmsteen, Petrucci, Satriani, Vai and others are great but Brian is the number one !

  • all them are mainly inspired by may!

  • I wish I was born in the eighties to see this lot of talented guitarists (especially Mr May); nowadays (of course not for everybody, but for a lot of today's groups) it's all about striking power chords like brutes for 2min, the "solo" being reduced to two or three notes... Long live Queen

  • You'd had to have been born in the 70s to experience it, actually, but...okay.

  • sorry i meant like having my teenager years in the 80s..

  • hendrix, clapton, page are all great guitarists but mr.may is in a class all by himself. one need look no further than this to know it but if you need more convincing listen to the dixieland jazz band at the end of "good company". all those clarinets and trombone sounds are from his guitar alone. brian may rules. greatest guitarist of all time.

  • My favorite moment of the whole concert :-)

  • If you know the basic's it is really hard.. I am doing this for four years now, and it finally starts to sound like this... sometimes

  • awesome, brian knows how to use a delay.

  • excellent brian may is a rock guitar legend thanks for uploading this vid 5*

  • Pleasure my friend.... the man rocks!
