  • How fucking amazing is this.... Vini, Bruce, Tim Kellet and the violinist who's name I've forgotten but was incredible. Just so beautiful. I mean how do any of todays also rans even think they can come up to this standard. By the way Vini had a stroke last year (2011) so please get well soon mate and be back playing like the genius you really are.

  • Spine tingling.

  • I listened to Without Mercy today, while driving on a sunny warm/cold November day in Michigan 2011. It was perfect.

  • Wow! this is new to me. I have heard them before but did not know who it was.

This track strays into several areas but seems at home in all of them

  • I was lucky enough to have been in two of their concerts back in the 80s, despite living outside of the UK

  • Thanks for the upload. Without Mercy is one my favourite Durutti Column albums, though in my opinion it's spoilt by that clumsy drum machine thumping away nearly all the time. I wish they could remix the album minus the drum machine.

  • Wonderful!

  • great song, great musician. bruce mitchell's not half-bad. thanks 4 the upload

  • some of the horn section (the far left) looks like the guys from A Certain Ratio; maybe. great song, great musician. bruce mitchell's not half-bad. thanks 4 the upload

  • I'm from Brazil. I hear Durutti Colum ever. I have LC vinyl album and Without Mercy and somethings selections. Não consigo me desapegar deste conforto sonoro.

  • @Falco3211 Me too. Tenho o cd Sex and Death, que comprei em 1996, portanto muito antigo. É diferente desse som do vídeo. Muito mais intimista, viajante e sensual. Os artistas vão se transformando...

  • awesome in so many ways.

    Who is the trumpet player?

  • @akaFierceRulingDiva You probably recognize his face, he is Tim Kellett who later joined up with Simply Red.

  • melodic grandness.genius is not a too strong word for mr. vini reilly.

  • This is beautiful beyond words...

  • is the viola player Blaine Reininger?

  • Sumptuous and Beautiful !

Vini and Bruce have made amazing music for years and years: Circuses and Bread, Without Mercy, LC, Guitars and other Machines, Another Setting...

  • A Factory Records legend...

    and Crijevo you are right!

An elevator song to paradise -__-

  • Music that invokes the meaning of afterlife - a beautiful afterlife.

  • yeah,in the beginning is Bowie's Warsawa!!!

  • does anybody else hear a resemblence to Warszawa at 0:35?

  • Oh yeah, undoubtedly.

  • David Bowie ( Low ) -»Warszawa -» Warsaw -» Joy Division

    -» Factory -» Durutti Column

  • ha, that was intricate

  • So many hours listening to this...so many yet to come. I'll never tire of Durutti Column and will continue to spread the word!

  • This was part of the soundtrack of my youth-an overused phrase but true never the less- so great to hear it again!!!

  • ...seems to be a Synthesizer/ keyboard setting according to google. Please share if you know.....

  • Yeah, its to do with the low frequency oscillators, In this song a DX7 (as far as i can tell) is being used. The LFO chages the pitch of the sounds by the shape of a selected waveform (eg. giving the sound virbrato). The MOD is the level of speed that it is set to (modulation). It's one of the buttons on the DX 7.

  • By the way, Anyone know what the L.F.O. M.O.D. stands for at the end of the last track??? Please share......

  • Unbelievable track!!! Just found "Valuable Passages Facd164" on CD to replace my mid-80s cassette. Now I know what I've been missing!!!....long live Vini Reilly + Durutti Column. TEMPUS FUGIT

  • beautiful music! thanks so much for this post.

  • Thanks for posting this. This is MF'n awesome! I think Vini is the greatest unknown guitarist on the scene today. I'll never get a chance to see him live I don't think since I live in the Midwest-America and he'll never come here.

This is one of my favorite songs by Vini and off of one of my favorite albums.

I would give this one 500 stars if I could.

    Tausend Dank!!!

  • please name the ensemble?

  • Has anybody got 'Weakness and fever" track by Vini Reilly, a tune which has previously been published on the "From Brussels With Live" Album? It would just be so great to hear and see this again...

  • this brought back great memories.I saw Durutti Column on the "Without Mercy" tour at The Hacienda Manchester. I still have the photos!! Vini Reilly is a very talented and very humble guy. He signed a 10x 8 photo for me that I had taken of him at Manchester Poly in the early 80s-only he signed it on the back and wrote underneath "a worthless signature" !

  • one of my favourite song :)

  • I had the 33!!! People so young e so excellent...

  • In blackley manchester factorys town and a post code from the centre,I often think what i could of been part of im,e 40 now to young for this at the time this is the real factory wilson wanted, please put more of the record label on where possible please people.
