  • Oh god - I just realised you look a lot like Jimmy Wales. You know, Jimmy "a personal appeal" Wales. :)

  • @BelgianGeneral I suppose I do, a bit. Still, at least you didn't say Hugh Laurie.

  • I believe that Swing Dancing originated in the US during the 1920s and that Swing Dancing should not be attributed to any ancient tribe of "geeks" (not heard of them, but I don't know much about the tribes before the Dark Ages sadly).

Though I guess it is possible that the Swing Dancing that we seem to think originated from the US could have indeed been simply a revival of an ancient dance from the Geeks, I would assume it would be a worship dance to their god whom I assume is still Steve Jobs.

  • I like that quote "Can you define 'geek'?". I'm a geek, I loves my video games, card games, internet, history and cartoons, however, I have regularly made representative rugby league and union teams and fought in both kickboxing and full contact kyokushin tournaments. A healthy, fit, athletic, somewhat pugalistic...geek. Drop all the sports and I'd probably be a nerd.

  • Bloody Brilliant!

  • Another amazing video - thank you :)

  • Looks like really sophisticated and cool fun time with interesting people... to bad I cannot dance... ^^

  • Wait... lindy hop. You like the colo(u)r beige. Lindybeige. I learned something today.

  • I first read "are Swiss Dancers Greeks?"

I must be really tired. Damn.

  • The answer is yes.

  • I suspect Nerdfighteria would love these series of videos. I might just post this on Your Pants.

  • @Royalemperorblue Thanks, please do.

  • So they are SCPs? Can't say I know many SCP's, time to go hunting!

Another great video, good luck with more.

  • Grrrr... Swing dancers.

  • the guy with his partner with the glasses looks exactly like my father... bit younger but man.

  • The question makes me wonder, but then I suddenly realize: Hell no! This question is out of question! Swinging geek is not a geek anymore! Is a shaman dancing with spirits a geek? Is a lover singing for his love a geek? No, ther're just grabbing the life where they all feel there's life aplenty. Dont know if what I wrote makes sense. Anyway

this is Jan, coming back from downtown Poznań, Poland, slightly drunk freestyle dancer/lover/S.C.P./lifegrabbber. Good night.

    P.S. Nice couple they are.

  • YES!!! Devoted lindy hoppers are geeks. Geeks dressing up in 20-50ies clothes, go to all sorts of exchanges all over the world to meet other geeks and learn more lindy. Geeks, many of which when not dancing lindy hop, work as computer engineers, teachers, artists, PhDs, etc etc in order to finance their strange addiction. However we are now talking about cool geeks, knowing how to act on a dance floor, and who even in some cases get laid.

  • Is the reason I don't understand this video at all that I'm completely drunk or because it is very strange?

  • @ASaxonAtHeart I was going to answer the former, and yet you are sober enough to type.

  • @lindybeige I was quite surprised at that myself. It could have been far worse... It takes very little alcohol to befuddle me completely, too little to render me as incompetent in actions as in paying attention. I feel a little better this morning.

  • they are... lovely... :D

  • In that case, I'm a sophisticated cool person. :D

  • I'm afraid I have some very bad news for you. As you may be aware, all of your subscribers are geeks or hippies.

  • @Roflcopter4b How is this news bad?

  • @lindybeige Well, it depends on what light you paint geeks and hippies. Geeks, or nerds such as I, are very much a good thing. Hippies, also such as I, are generally regarded as bad, despite the fact that I've never had a more spiritual experience than a good high. To some, this is bad news. To you, I hope not.

  • @Roflcopter4b Not me. I'm an erudite jock.

  • they're just hippies!

    that got me

  • What's the difference between passion and geekyness?

  • @MagicAccent On average, I think about £12,000 a year.

  • @MagicAccent

As I would see it, geekishness (I love making up words) is a passion for a certain subject coupled with a frighteningly detailed knowledge of the same subject.
