Nice video. Ironic that the MML hasn't yet been electrified up to Nottngham yet there's an electrified high speed rail link here with great potential.
As an NUR rep I submitted a plan in BR days to create a link via Colwick Rectory Junction and the closed Cotgrave Colliery route but it came to nothing although I believe it was looked at later by local councils. The gap needing to be bridged isn't all that large. (AFAIK the Cotrgrave branch is still mothballed)
@madmax200769 I'm aware of that plan you mention, it would of been good for the local communities.
As for speed, it reaches 97 towards the South end of Widmerpool straight before I had to apply some brake for the curve (90 mph track but had dispensation to perform at up to 100mph on the straight only) If you watch the Northbound video I have well that reaches 100mph by the former Widmerpool station and then up to Stanton tunnel before being lowered for the curve to the North. Dave
Brilliant, please could you contact me off site at Paul@apt-e.org, I run and look after the APT-E and would love a full un-editied copy of your videos to dsiplay in the new VIP lounge when completed, and of course, credit where credit is due.
As for the sound level, well both engines were running fine and you can hear the wheels going over the rail joints! So yes, they are very quiet, and a nice unit to drive.
It wasn't until 1997 when I realised what the old railway line at Edwalton was used for.
