This is the period in my relationship with Sly, that I had to step down. I worshiped and still do worship the music of Sly Stone. Everything about him, to me, was tha shit! Still during this period, I stepped down and never looked back. You see, I only had to suffer three years of creative striff because P. Rogers Nelson came along. And Thanks to Prince-I never had to look back! Thanks Prince for holding it down after Sly Stone went North!!
I really liked this album. It was a departure and it was panned and the public didn't receive it well but I loved a lot of these tracks. I especially like the tittle track, Blessing in Disguise, which is brilliant, Let's Be Together (the one with Frampton on the talk-box), and the single, What Were You thinking in Your Head. Sly was a real innovative artist. He was one of the first to bring together funk and rock with gospel-tinged vocals. .
Well said. Blessing in Disguise is a brilliant song, with it's swirling strings/horns and poignant message. Other greats IMO are "Everything in you", What was I thinking" and "The Thing" with it's strong use of cowbell! :p
Why the label released "Family Again", which IMO is by far one of the worst Sly records ever, and not the title track or "Blessing" is beyond my comprehension. Perhaps the album would have fared better commercially.
The whole record is not good, but it's still better than most. I really like this track though...shame it never was given a real chance. Too much of an artistic departure maybe? I dunno. Long live Sly!

I like that song where Peter Frampton plays his talk box guitar in the back ground..
Forget the songs name, well the record wasn't that good.
The following record ' Back in the right track' was a strong return , IMO
