Most marijuana users sue it recreationally, smokers have to smoke because of the nicotine, not because they want to. Therefore, you don't go through tons of weed in one day. Also its price is a major aspect. Most users are younger and don't have much money. Statistically there aren't many marijuana user above the age of 50, when you have the most.

Think about it like this: It is possible to drink enough alcohol at one time to kill yourself. It is IMPOSSIBLE to ingest or inhale a fatal amount of THC. Respond to this video...Yes they don't. Most people ingest maybe 2 beers giving them a BAC of maybe .05 and the legal limit here in CA is .08. A single joint will get you high and relatively speaking beyond the legal limit if it was defined by intoxication. And again THC isn't lethal, smoking marijuana is.

And how do you figure that the average person drinks 2 beers? Maybe over dinner, in which case, the comparrison would be to not smoking anything, as it is far less common to have a smoke with dinner, than a drink. As for partying, where marijuana is common, it's not uncommon to see some people consume 12+ cans or bottles of beer.

I read the effects of alcohol and the THC present in marijuana and it takes less THC (significantly less as proven above) to get the same effect as alcohol. And you cannot consume 12+ cans of beer without passing out or dying because that is 115.2 doses of alcohol, and the chart in my health textbook only goes up to 10.

And 10 drinks gives a 160 pound male a BAC of .28. The lethal dose is 20 shots of .5 fl. oz of pure alcohol and gives you a BAC of .4. And again, the way you are comparing these chemicals is pointless. Marijuana is typically administered as a single dose, whereas alcohol is typically ingensted over a period of time. Perhaps if you were to inject 12 cans of beer all at once through a feeding tube, there would not be adequate space. But in the time it takes to drink the beers at a pace, space is cleared. Is that simple enough for you to understand? And on another note, yes, some people regularly drink 12+ beers in a night

@nakabar At a party I am assuming that you have around 4 hours to drink all this stuff. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to digest beer (depending on what brew). And, if you have to die then you would have to digest all of the alcohol, but drinking that much i'm assuming you would barf a lot of it out. Also, depending on how much you drink you might be able to get rid of alcohol more effectively.

Marijuana is not too addicting, and because it is illegal, hard to get so most people will go get something else. Also, using a bong or vaporizer reduces the chance of developing respiratory problems by 40%. Also, most people don't just smoke and then go for a drive. I'm sure they sit down and enjoy it or something.

I doubt I could find many because a people who smoke marijuana only smoke it occasionally. It isn't addictive like other drugs but smoking anything definitely is dangerous especially if you live in polluted place like LA or China. But my point is that taking small amount of it can cause the same mental effect as large quantities of alcohol and is therefore more dangerous especially in the environment where marijuana is obtained losing your inhibition is dangerous. Also obtaining it is dangerous.

@nakabar I'm not wrong about the health aspect, its just that the social aspect is such that it is hard to find any incidences of the worst symptoms. Most marijuana users sue it recreationally, smokers have to smoke because of the nicotine, not because they want to. Therefore, you don't go through tons of weed in one day. Also its price is a major aspect. Most users are younger and don't have much money. Statistically there aren't many marijuana user above the age of 50, when you have the most.

It causes changes in the levels of neurotransmitters that control the sense, inhibition, euphoria etc. In most people it changes their sensory perception and is therefore dangerous to operate machinery when "high". However, people are different. Just because you are severely affected by alcohol, but not by marijuana doesn't mean that everybody is fine with it.

The area where it takes effect is the nervous system where it attaches to nicotinic acetylcholine receptors on the axons of neurons and causes a increase in the release of dopamine and other neurotransmitters. Because of the increased levels of dopamine, your neurons stop making as much and when not on the drug you feel irritated and on edge and need more nicotine to feel normal.
