All I know is, when I sing in the shower, I don't sound like these people, regardless of what I have said against them! Knowing how to sing is not the same as coping with having a lifetime career in the opera world, much of which can be difficult and frustrating.

So cool that Renèe Fleming and Angela Gheorghiu obviously respect and even like each other very much; they were rivals for the title of pre-eminent international diva long before Netrebko came along, and they are both fabulous. (I understand Gheorghiu and Netrebko also get along well; also very cool. There's room enough for more than ONE diva, after all.)

The hat and the dress make her look like Minnie Pearl, from the 60s, or "from hunger" as we say in New York. Yecch. She does sing very well, at times, but who cares? No charisma, Angela. And why did she sing all those bel canto ditties at the Met concert and omit the cabalettas, aren't we a Dramatic Coloratura, honey?Renée makes me so mad sometimes the way she fudges her music but remains a delightful, classy dame with a lot of presence.

@Querzeo: Of course, I love Renee too, but it was the way he said it to her that was kind of sleazy, especially with his wife standing right there. Also notice that: 1.) His arm is around her shoulder instead of her waist, which implies that he's trying to show unity, but it's appearing forced and artificial, 2.) She leaves almost immediately after he says that comment to Renee, and 3.) Renee looks very uncomfortable when he gives her the hug at the end.

@ilmaestro18 I totaly saw your right right in the beggining. You may know that they are separated now. Not divorced, but separated, so Angela said. And it's true that Renee is very unconfortable with Roberto's "flirting", and specially with the kiss in the end, but that's because she's american, she's not used to kiss, hug and touch. As a portuguese I wouldn't be unconfortable a second, because we do that a lot to each other. :-)

The 4 stars is for Renee - she is so articulate and unpretentious - 180 degrees different from Lavampirette and Alagna!

Ha - she could also be Jillian Anderson's twin sister!
