  • AWESOME COVER MAN!!!! do you know where i can download their music for free?

  • @redheadlino12

Thanks. I suggest you buy their music.

  • dude this sounds amazing!!!!!

  • DAT guitar has so many knobs!

  • 2:10 face: ME GUSTA

  • gauge set? pleasee!

  • @ktulu11

    009 DR

  • @cataclysmichael ¿09-52? ¿Gauges 009",011",016",024",032",042",052"? =O

    The last cuestion, ¿tuning?

Great job, i never tire of seeing it.

    THANKS.

  • @ktulu11

    7 String Lite LT7-9

    9,11,16,24,32,42,52

I played it in drop Ab

  • Hey man! did you need to route the guitar at al to get the pickups into it?

  • @Coreyland

    Yes, a tiny bit.

  • Is that fanned fret back there a Siggery? By the way, that Carvin is tasty as hell. How much extra did it cost to get that maple sandwiched between the koa?

  • @ElectricTurkey1

    Nope, it's a blackmachine.

Sandwiched body was a 100 extra.

  • It is perfect.Amazing work mate!

  • @TheElectricFre

Wtf,why are you all talking about this f*cking things???You must say something about this melody or how talented is this guy...

Like:"I pee on the right side of the toilet to make less noise." -.-*

  • whatever, Djent is not a genre. However, Djent (the sound and style associated with it) has led to a sort of Technical Progressive Metal. And instead of saying Technical Progressive Metal... why not just call it Djent... rolls of the tongue alot easier

  • Are you using piezos for the clean stuff? (I recognized the dual cable setup...)

    Great cover btw!

  • @LukasWagnerOfficial

    That's correct.

  • i feel so shit at guitar now, thanks

  • TOOOOONNNNNEEEEEE

  • Nice playing, nice tone, nice editing!!

  • SICK COVER !

    Tunning G#F#A#D#FA#D# ?

  • What tuning are you using? I know TesseracT use some kind of strange open Bb tuning for the drone strings. Is that what you've got here or you using Bb standard?

  • Congrats from Sao Paulo/Brazil!

  • amazing man !

  • What wood was your body?

  • @nellings6

    Koa.

  • Amazing man :o tabs?

  • @seamonkey18

Thanks. I learned it by ear.

  • Oh ~~ thank you ..

and really look forward new video from you ..

i guess many people also waiting for this.

  • did the krk rokit works great with some metal stuff ?

  • @neo69hk

Works great with anything in my experience :)

  • this is an amazing cover, but why do most if not all Djent bands think theyre meshuggah? i think they should either stick to clean singing or no vocals at all. It ruins the music. Meshuggah is the only band who have been able to pull off the screamo vocals because Jens does it as a deep growl rather than whiney annoyingness. Also, it's not Djent, it's Jazz-Fusion Metal. You can ask the creator of all this yourself, if you know who i'm talking about.

  • @ThrashMetalMan1

    Thanks.

I don't really care if it's called djent or jazz-fusion or whatever as long as I like it :P

  • @cataclysmichael true its just ignorance pisses me off lol

  • @ThrashMetalMan1 Djent is not a genre.

    Stop saying the word djent.

Stop trying to clarify it as if it is a genre, because it's not.

  • @Genoc1deP7 if you read the rest of my comment like a smart person would, i actually said its not a genre. I was using the word for lack of a better term. Know what youre talking about before you talk.

  • hey dude great cover, cheers from israel...

what setting did u use on the pod?

  • @mtzivi

Thanks. I used an axe-fx which is out of the frame, not the pod there :P

  • great job man! :) have a good day

  • Awesome dude,What gear are you using?...Im getting an axe fx2 next week! YYYYAAAAASSSSS!! :) awesome video man

  • @IbanezDemon

Thank you. Look at the tags of the video, most of what I use in each video is listed there.

  • what pickups are in that beast?

  • @camshreds

    BKP Painkiller + Q-Tuner High-Z :)

  • @cataclysmichael nice! it seems everyone has BKP nowadays. eh? too bad they cost a shit ton of cash! lol.

  • @camshreds

    I guess you're on SS then :P

  • @cataclysmichael SS? what does that mean?

  • @camshreds

Sevenstring... the forum you know :P

  • @cataclysmichael haha. i do not frequent it very much. lol. i am not really caught up on the youtube lingo. :D sorry!

  • Sick man....awesome stuff. Always enjoy watching these over and over....

  • @Sponge1974

    Thanks! :)

  • Dude, your tone is better than what's on the record...

  • @brwnie00

It sucks without the original song backing it up though :P

  • @cataclysmichael have you got the tabs for this version? i cant find the same

  • @77Hking

    I learned it by ear.

  • Nice bro thanks

  • Carvin?

  • @AVH5000ultimate

    Definitely.

  • seriously, where is the next one, ive been lookin forward to it for a year!

  • @kurukq

You're right. It's time. I'll try to stop playing BF3 and start to play the guitar again :P

  • @cataclysmichael

You should cover Crazy Train by Bon Jovi

  • @cataclysmichael omg O_O that's exactly what i need to do! lol.....but BF3 is soooo addicting! :P

  • AWESOME ! love that video

  • Thanks for putting my comment in the video, I really appreciate it.

Again, you're one of my most favorite guitarists. Unmatched attention to detail, I'm floored just by watching this. True inspiration man, I mean every word.

  • @lainiac2012

    Thanks for sommenting :)

And thanks for the kind words! Maybe I'll put this one in the next one, haha :P

  • Hey man F***** awesome how did you recorded that?

I read that you used the TC Electronic Impact Twin as interface but what else, did you use any sort of plugins, and what more?

Great man one of the most amazing tones on youtube

    thanks

  • @mzsteadicam

Thanks. Nothing special. Recorded through an axe-fx and put on a compressor in the end. That's pretty much it.

  • Michael quick question is this on Bb? i HATE tesseract`s tuning so hard to figure out hahahha

  • @espalexi666

I played it in Drop Ab

  • @espalexi666 It's AbEbAbDbEbAb. Apparently Acle Kahney(one of their guitarists) became obsessed with DADGAD tuning after hearing "Kashmir", so all of His songs are in a lower former of it(generally it's like the tuning I just described but a tone higher-BbFBb etc...).

  • @ComfyNumb1989 THAT answers my question, thank you very much. :) So the way they actually play it, they tune some strings above standard. That just doesn't make sense to me if they're using extended scale guitars...?

  • Firstly; GREAT cover. Secondly, I'm really confused by TesseracT's tuning... do you tune it UP or DOWN on the 6th(F), 5th(A#), 4th(D#) strings? Thirdly, is this a 25.5 scale neck? Thanks in advance! :)

  • @LPSGRGES

Down. I'm not sure what tuning tesseract use, but I played it in Drop Ab. It's 25.5 yes.

  • @cataclysmichael Hmm, okay, I need to find someone who play in the A# / F / A# / D# / F / A# / D# tuning. Which is why I'm confued; tune a few string UP a halfsted or DOWN like ~11 semitones? They play on 26.5 scale Ibanez models, which confuses me more. Maybe those string are just a really thin gauge...? Bleh I dunno.

  • @LPSGRGES

Well, you confuse me, haha. I don't really know what they do. I just listen and try to make it sound ok with the stuff I use.

  • @cataclysmichael No problem man, sorry for all the fuss. I'm just trying to decide which scale and which guitar will let me play the most tunings from different bands. Thanks a lot for all your help. :)

  • @cataclysmichael

That sucked to read on youtube, haha. I can send it on email if you want.

  • we folloooooooowwwwHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

  • why the FUCK have I never heard about Tesseract? It's good!

  • FUCKING EPIC. I saw 'em last night with Elliot as their vocalist and they killed.

  • Waouh! The first guitar we see is an ampli! XD

    Great cover, really!

  • hey man great cover how do you like that carvin? looks damn sexy

  • @Meshuggahfication

    Love it :)

  • i love your musical tastes :D and you play everything so perfectly!

  • @MrViOlEnCeIsGoLdEn

    Thank you!

  • Is that a blackmachine in the background ?

  • Holy control knobs, batman.

  • That's great, I wanna buy impact twin soon. Could you tell me how did you connect the impact with axe fx and your pc? Which inserts and cables did you use?

  • @qqryq90

I connect my guitar to the mic/inst ch 1 of the impact twin with a regular guitar cable, then the SPDIF DO of the twin into the SPDIF DI of the axe, then the SPDIF DO from the axe and back to the SPDIF DI of the twin. And then I connect the twin to the computer with a firewire. That way I can record both the dry and wet signal if I want to reamp later.

  • May I ask what the tuning was for this? Great cover man.

  • @kyjellyish

    Drop Ab IIRC.

  • Have a guitar pro tab?

  • @Th3Drumm3rb0y

    BKP Painkiller + Q-tuner

  • Please do CAFO by Animals as Leaders

  • @drowzy721 If I only had the skill to do it!

  • Hi ! Very nice sound ! Could you share the soundpatch ??I try to get my Axe to sound this good with my Schecter 7-strings tuned to G# like Periphery -without success ! First i bought 75-11 strings to get that djentsound -what gauge do you use ? Then Axe -i tweak it already a couple of week but dont really like my djent ... :-(

  • @KawamurAsun

Sure, just give me an email to send it to.

I find thinner strings to work better for djent btw, I use a 009-set.

  • @KawamurAsun

Did I send the patches? I can't even remember. I've been moving and stuff so sorry if I didn't. Sending them now though.

  • @cataclysmichael Hi Michael ! Thanx a bunch i ve just got them . How are you ? im waiting for new covers

  • @KawamurAsun

I've got my stuff set up at the new place so I'm ready to make stuff again. But first I have to play the crap out of battlefield 3, haha. Absolutely love that game :P

  • @cataclysmichael Battlefield 3 ? i havent played yet .Should steal it somewhere on the net :-)) Kill 'em all and get back to music ,bad boy :D

  • What's the guitar model and brand that you used for the clean sound?

  • @no5eh

Carvin DC727, both are, just different specs.

  • no top comment?bring me up there :D

  • How would you compare carvin 7 strings to the ibanez ones?

  • @andreistoc

Better, just overall better. Feels better, looks better, sounds better...

  • @cataclysmichael Also, what wood would you recommend for a 7 string? :D

  • @andreistoc

I don't recommend anything special. Alder, swamp ash, mahogany, koa.... Those are great in my experience, even basswood.

  • Why aren't you playing playing in my band?

  • @MATYRKER

Because I would rather be playing guitar...

  • did you used a tc electronic impact twin to record?

  • @danielhl22

    Yes.

  • Hey man, what do you use to get that clean tone at the beginning of the vid? i've been trying to find out that tone for the last 2 years lol

  • @dirtboy188

Play octaves with the unprocessed guitar-signal (no amp or cabinet) and put on some reverb and delay.

  • @cataclysmichael wow.....that simple huh? I was talking to Acle from TesseracT yesterday....and i still cant get him to tell me haha, but thanks man that sounds just like the real deal!

  • @dirtboy188

That's what I did. I'll let you be the judge, haha.

  • what tuning is this tune in man? and you neeeeed to upload more videos 1 every year isnt gonna do it

  • @ghall0420

I played it in Drop Ab on a 7-string. You're right, 6-10 videos in 2012. That's my new years resolution.

  • Your covers are so awesome man, please cover Unite to Defy by Xerath

  • @Idey1994

Thanks for subscribing :) Checked out that song now, some neat riffs in there. Don't think I'll make a video of it though.

  • i prefer this one to the original to be honest. not being a fanboy. michaels version just sounds a bit "fatter"

  • @pR1sooeem

Can't get a better compliment than that. Although it wouldn't sound nearly as good without the original track backing up my guitar :P

  • Please post more videos! :(

  • @childofbodom4life

I'm sorting things out so I can do that again. I need a little more time though..

  • @cataclysmichael Its all good man, take all the time you need

  • @childofbodom4life

Thanks for not forgetting me :)

  • @cataclysmichael no problem man, you have some of the tightest covers i've seen on youtube (:

  • Your editing is awesome!

  • Why are there 2 input jacks on that lovely guitar?

  • @Kevinkoch2443

The piezo have a seperate input. I mixed the piezo and magnetic pickups in the intro :)

  • @cataclysmichael Wow that´s cool never saw that before! Are you using a pod xt btw?

  • @Kevinkoch2443

    I use the axe-fx ultra.

  • @cataclysmichael How much is it?

  • @Kevinkoch2443

    About $2000

  • haha do you have an axe fx?

  • @ACDCwarmachine

    Yup.

  • thats just exacly how a 7-string should sound

  • I spy with my little eye a blackmachine in the background... YUM!

  • @flavourthesky

    Definitely :)

  • hi dude nice video and nice sound. i have a question. so i know u have pod to make this sound, what if you play this sound on live? what set up gonna be? thanx

  • @fff333ify

I haven't really tried it live, but I guess I would run it through my VHT poweramp and through my orange 4x12 or genz-benz 2x12, or both and mic them up... Or just go straight to the soundboard.

Would have to test it out first and see what I liked better.

  • Fy fan så bra! Åsså er du norsk!

  • @NicolaiFre

    Takker :)

  • I actually prefer this to the original on One.

  • @Atheonyirh

    Haha, thank you!

  • dude you rule

  • Nice cover man! :D

    What's the tuning btw? ;s

want to cover that song pretty bad myself ><'

though I can't find any usable tabs D:

  • @AchlysNils

I'm not sure of the original tuning, but I use Drop Ab.

  • Comment removed

  • what is the wood satin finish guitar called? what brand?

  • @kirkhammett1993

Both guitars are Carvin DC727 :)

  • lol its cool looking forward to more of your kick ass covers

  • are going to do any more covers

  • @TheGodOfWar120

Most definitely. I just need to move first, just can't find a place to rent, and the bank doesn't want to give me a loan to buy so I'm stuck, haha.

  • @cataclysmichael if you sold half of your equipment you could like buy a penthouse or something

  • @MajkeTiTvoje

    I'd rather be homeless :P

  • That's fucking crazy!

  • I've been trying to figure this song out for a while now and tried using your cover and got extremely confused because you play it so differently from how I do it. Just figured out you're not in Tesseract tuning haha.

    Cheers from sevenstring

  • What are your settings on your POD? I've got the same one, minus the software upgrades you buy from Line 6's website, and I've been fighting forever to get that perfect tone I'm looking for, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • @rhythmkeeper009

I used the axe-fx for this video :/

  • @cataclysmichael Ah, alright. That actually doesn't surprise me, because those things are pretty much god for amp modulation. Haha

  • 7:55 i just had eargasm.

is the Carvin mahogany body ? i want to put BKP Painkiller in my mahogany Schecter omen extreme 7 using line6 ux2, what you think, would it djent like that ?

  • @FeroxX

It's swamp ash. I would send Tim at bare knuckle an email. Just tell him the specs of your guitar and what sound you're after and he'll give you the best choice ;)

  • awesome shit!

  • This is amazing man. Welcome back

  • Hey dude, awesome vid! What tuning is that? and what guitar!? Chris

  • @MetalliHead89

I played it with Drop A on a 7-string. Carvin DC727 that is.
