  • Pasek and paul are geniuses, I don't understand why they aren't more well known!! They have such range with music from hilarious to deeply touching!!!

  • This version of the song never gets old. It is so beautifully composed and performed! After 2 years, I still come back to watch.

  • I was there for the very first production of this show. With this cast. Absolutely incredible.

  • I actually cried listening to this today. This song is so appropriate right now, especially when you feel like you'll never achieve your dreams. Have to stop being afraid and start living!

  • The piece is so beautiful. The whole show is perfection. I can't stop listening. Such a peculiar musicality the two composer have. It is almost surreal. I love where the theatre is going. So appreciative in being part of this art.

  • This song helps with college stress so much. Really.

  • Anyone else feel like crying after the 4 "I'm not afraid."? Goodness gracious, it's so clear and bone-chillingly beautiful!!

  • Chills chills chills

  • oh and can anyone tell me what notes they're on in the final chord. I can hear the bass/soprano but can't pick the alto/tenor.

  • @sephyr2006 I think the bass and soprano are both on an D#, the tenor is on a G, and the alto is on a Bb. Might be wrong\

  • @uberdork987 thanks that's what it sounds like to me too.

  • I think we should all start a petition to get this on Broadway or at least a cast recording! Who's with me?

  • LOVE THIS

  • i LOVE Whitney Bashor's voice. new idolll :)

  • Brilliance!

  • 3:50 on i have chills <333

  • @simsVids15 It is a simmilar style. There are only four characters in edges and they all have intertwining stories that eventually link back to their original introduction in the beginning. but I see it as Pasek and Paul wrote some kick ass songs about just about every situation a person can deal with and just decided to write it into a giant song cycle. unlike in SFANW they arent anyone in particular though, they are just everyday people that you might see walking down the street.

  • Great playlist. Those are some of the best songs to not only listen to but to perform. Amazing choices

  • The guy in the grey - WHY DID YOU CHANGE YOUR VOWEL? He is soooooooo flat on the second to last chord! So bad. It hurt worse because the rest of the song was GREAT! The vowel went straight to his throat. Give a listen, it's awful.

  • @fznbaritone To be fair it didn't really make that much of a difference to the overall texture of that harmony. And he sang the right note on that second to last chord.. If he'd gone sharper than what he was singing, it wouldn't have worked.. Well that's my opinion anyway.

  • @SimsVids15 He eventually gets to the note at 4:26 but initially it's extremely flat. Again, like I said - it was great and then out of nowhere comes this backwards approach. Oh well.

  • @fznbaritone Ahh yeah valid point there. :)

  • I can never get over this song. Video of my friends and I singing it on my YouTube channel.

  • i love this song. it just never gets old.

  • Just amazing. This and the rest of the songs have to be on iTunes.

  • @GrandSuperior i tried looking for it, and couldn't find it, If you find it, PLEASE tell me where lol

PS Has anybody else noticed at 1:35 "Take away the questionsssk?" lol I love it.

  • so... since when has this been on youtube!? I've been listening to jank ass versions on megavideo. ew. FINAL MAINSTREAM.....ish... :D <3

  • this is like next to normal only so much better.

  • Loving all the showchoir comments. Somerset MA's ELECTRIFY. <3 Also I love this song. The intricacies of the song definitely remind me of J. Robert Brown, who's a genius, and they definitely have some Sondheim in them. Love itttt.

  • Omg WHOA u guys are AMAZING!!! why isn't this song on iTunes!?!

  • WHY IS THIS NOT ON ITUNES???

  • We are singing this in choir :D

    I love it!

  • This is so beautiful...It makes me cry. Especially at 3:52

  • where can I get the sheet music to this song? It's the only one I can't find

  • Amazing voices. I'd love to see this

  • can someone please tell me the plott of this musical i heard this song and i want to know more about it

  • @MMKLproductions

there really isn't a plot. It's a song cycle. No characters, just a series of songs.

  • @MMKLproductions this show has no real plot, it is a song cycle showing the lives and struggles of several different types of people. There is the person who is completely terrified of finding love, and there is the sisters growing apart, the best guy friends discussing their meaning of the best day ever, the songs they sing together represent something most people have in common, a fear of being one's self and the final discovery that you are perfect the way you are. this is a wonderful show!

  • @Musicallie201 So is it a little bit like Songs For a New World? (the plot, i mean.)

  • I've been looking everywhere for the lyrics of this song! Can someone please tell me where to find them? And don't say Google, haha ;)

  • @shihtzulover24: I am going to say google :-) Just put in "like breathing lyrics edges" and it's the fourth or so hit down on Wiki answers.

    Such an amazing song!

  • theBestArts...thx SO much for the link. I LOVE THIS SONG! Beautifully sung...very lyrical...great close harmony...It reminds me so much of RENT- one of my all time faves. I now have it in my Playlist. Props to Pasek & Paul!

  • I wish there were a DVD of this‚ I'm totally in love with every song and even more with the performers...

  • I'm pretty sure I can speak for my best friend and I, that this is now our favorite song in musical theatre (which is saying a lot!), and this is clearly the best version. it's a little disturbing how often we listen to this song, probably responsible for half the views on this vid =)

  • goosebumps again?!

    love love love

  • god i love this song

  • that was aziaing.

    what is this musical about!?

  • That last chord is pure brilliance. Granted, the whole song is amazing, of course, but still.

  • YESSSSSSS

  • That was.... just amazing. :)

  • One of the most amazing songs I've ever heard!

  • Omg. This is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever heard!

  • This song has so much emotion in it. I'd love to see this show for myself.

  • I saw this show twice with Pasek and Paul on the instrumentals with these actors. What a wonderful show you guys put on at Capital Rep in Albany! Please come back soon :)

  • I didn't know that this was the finale to "Edges".

I've been aware of versions of the show that end with a version of "Coasting" with this same reprise of "Become" at the end.

  • Perhaps they changed it; this was the first professional production of the show. This would be an awesome finale if it was the finale, don't know why they would change it.

  • THIS IS AMAZING. <33

pleaaaaaaase put up the COASTING video!!!!!!! i miss it so!

  • ok, so is this show like brand new to the world?

when will the music be available?

  • My God, I love this!

  • is this at capital rep?

  • this is such a stunning performance!

  • breathtaking

  • you are the "Rodgers and Hammerstein" of our generation. beautiful work.

  • haha it's like two equally original Sondhiems. Music is complex, harmonies are incredibly, rhythm driven; ballads scream Stephen. I love them.

  • Sondheim?!

I think you need to do some more listening.

  • no, I'm comfortable with my comparison. Complex harmony, clear and beautiful melodies, lots of syncopation in the phrasing, the contemporary voice of their generation, overlapping vocals, theatrical crescendo, common and reoccurring melodies, incredibly character driven pieces, examination of human condition in simple situations, etc. I could keep going. I didn't say they WERE sondheim. I said they were the sondheims of our generation.

  • I happen to agree with you taylor lol they are brilliant

  • @taylorseymour yeah, except they lack any social critique whatsoever. Their music is musically complex and beautifully, but it lacks any social depth.

  • Benj and Justin - you know how much I love your music. This performance is the ideal showcase of your work. The music, lyrics and singers are all brilliant.

Thanks for re-posting this - I've missed it so much!

  • This is one of the best videos of the 20,000+ I've watched on YouTube over the last two years. I can't say enough good about it. Kudos to all involved. Thanks to AKB who first introduced me to this song and to Benj and Justin.

  • so glad this is back up! i was dying without it.

  • OMG YAY

put all of these back up please please pretty please, they got me edges addicted :p (I've seen like every vid there is on youtube that's edges related)

  • God bless you for putting this up...

  • omgggg

  • Please put Coasting back up!! I miss it soooo much!

  • I completely agree. I have to make do with listening to the audio only on the pasek and paul website.

  • OH MY GOD. this made my life.

  • OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG.. it is back!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU

  • <3 just <3

  • Yay!!! =D
