Thai Massaman - right out of the bag....hmmm this is not homemade. Try making the curry sauce.

I'm glad you are offering Thai cuisine. Although the procedure is an original. If there is a chance I want you to come to Thailand. Massaman curry I ate in Thailand. Welcome to Thailand. Massaman curry you can eat throughout all areas of the country.

The missing ingredient for the Massaman that you can easily find is the peanut.

(Some say that peanut butter is fine, but I don't think so...)

This dish should not taste sour so pineapple may not come great with the curry, but it's OK because the sweetness go well with this dish.

Onion is the normal ingredient that used in the curry and make it natural sweet :)

By the way I have never used the pre-made curry sauce, I think the curry paste made it more flavor,but if you don't it's OK.

we have a small thai cafe near us that does fantastic masaman curry but for some weird reason it's not on their menu! - shame as it's the best thing I've ever tasted and it's definately the best thing they do! (definately no avocados or pineapples in it tho)

This recipe is an Asian fusion style dinner. It is not what is traditionally served. It is a good change!

Thanks but I did not say I was making a "Traditional" Thai Massaman Curry. This is an example of how I like to make mine. Making a "Traditional" version is just as easy though.

I personally cook more authentic thai as I was taught by my thai mother but I appreciate the curry simple "solution" to cooking thai food. I will have to give it a shot sometime.

What are the differences between your mother's and this one?

all seperate ingredients, although the curry is still a paste. Plus the pineapple is not traditional in massaman, but like he says he "likes" to add it. Also traditional massaman contains potatoes, though i'm not sure that is in the pack.

Yes this is probably different than how your Thai mother has taught. This has all the same ingredients but is packaged one time.

The sauce is 100% made in Thailand with all ingredients from Thailand.

The actual recipe used is not what you would typically find at a Thai restaurant but shows that you can make dishes that cater more to your own personal tastes.

ironically I bought some and received it within the past week. Tried the Yellow Curry and I was very happy with the quality, nice quick solution to getting my thai fix in with little time! Will definitely recommend to others.

As far as I'm aware, the Curry Simple Mussaman Sauce isn't available in the UK yet. Until such time, I found that Sharwood's do a Mussaman Thai curry sauce in the UK (I got mine from Sainsbury's) which works fine for this recipe. I tried it the other day, and the meal tasted great. ;-)

The traditional version of this is a favorite of mine. I went to the website where it tells you what retail stores in your area carry these sauces. I cooked some chicken & onions, added the sauce, slivered almonds, which is how I like it, & avocado. I served it with jasmine rice mounds. Both hubby & I loved it. I make Thai Coconut Soup, so I also picked up that sauce & will trying it out very soon. This is a delicious product for anyone to try. Nope, I don't work for the folks, lol.

not yet... We sometimes ship items there but it is so expensive as the products are real sauces and do get heavy. Still working on the Canada connections.
